You wake up in the middle of the night to the sound of beautiful singing. The female voice is sweet and melodic, with rolling lyrics in an unknown language. Rubbing the sleep out of your eyes, you look outside. Your backyard is shrouded in a low hanging fog; in the center of the fog is a figure. From your window she seems to be of the misty fog. From your open window, her gorgeous song drifts in, the volume rising and falling with emotion. The song drags you outside among the clinging fog. Her song is soft and sad, yet resonates powerfully within you. She pays you notice as you walk outside. Her eyes are closed and her head is thrown back in song. Long smokey hair billows from her head. Her form is indistinct and misty, though a long, flowing, grey dress drapes off her body. Still, even from her insubstantial form, the song emanates. Tears form in your eyes. The flowing melody reminds you of all that you have lost, all that has slipped away, all that has been taken from you, all that you ruined. Tears grow as the misty woman opens her eyes slowly and looks at you. In that eye contact you realize her power; she has brought back everything that has caused you pain, has caused you sorrow; yet as you look at her you realize the certain nature of all of it. In her eyes, you realize the beauty that is in pain. With tears of melancholy joy falling down your face, you watch as she slowly walks away, her song still floating in the air like the fog around her. When she is gone, you return to bed, feeling tired but healed.
