Starting Over

Everything was different, police officers and other strange men were at our house. They said that they were investigating like the detectives in the movies my pop and mom watch late at night. My aunt made me go in her car but I can't see my parents anywhere and I have to sit next to my cousin,Mackenzie. She's alright only when she's sleeping.

Mackenzie:"Maddiiieeee!! Stop sitting too close to meeee, you're ruining my hair! Get off!" She roughly pushed me away making me drop my teddy.

Maddie: "ow Mackenzie, you don't have to be always mean to me, aunt Clara told me to sit here"

Mackenzie: " Ugh, whatever muddy maddie" She calls me muddy maddie to annoy me, I was playing soccer with my friends then splash I fell.....

Aunt Clara jumped in the car crying.
Aunt Clara:"girls stop fighting now ok?"

Mackenzie:" why does she have to stay here? Just because her parents died?"

I was out of words. My parents dead? Last week I was just waving them goodbye to go to summer camp and now......
I was crying I couldn't help it, but what if Mackenzie was just lying and none of these were true and it was just a prank what if-

Aunt Clara: " Mackenzie Dale Williams, you are grounded for a week and Maddie, honney, they're not dead. They weren't found yet, maybe they are in a safe place and the bad guys didn't get them? Calm down now ok baby?"

Maddie: " ok aunt cl-clara. I hope they're alright" I was still crying, mom, pops please be safe.

Aunt Clara drove to their house, it was 4 hours away from ours. I didn't noticed the time cause I was watching cartoons with Mackenzie. A familiar white, two story house came in to our view. Mack's parents are very rich, well that's what Mack always tell me. Cousin  Justin and Lisa were waiting in the drive way. I got out the car and they both gave me a hug.

Mackenzie: " Ugh, what so I don't get a hug?"

Justin: " nope, not with that tuna breath I smell.hahahahaha! "

Mack threw her tuna sandwich to her brother. Justin made a disgusted face and Lisa took a picture of it. Aunt Clara told me that I'm going to sleep at Mack's room since there is no more extra room that I can stay in. I begged her not to and told her that I can stay on the couch, but she said that it's not very hospitable so here I am...at the tiger's lair.

Mackenzie: "you sleep on the floor don't ever think about sleeping next to me." i think that was a warning so I stayed at the corner, as far away as possible. Aunt Clara went in the room and she was really dissappointed.

Aunt Clara:" Maddie, love, We have an extra bed over here, you can use it for the mean time"

As aunt clara and lisa finished putting the bed together, I took my clothes upstairs and made my bed. Mom and pops still aren't found, I really hope that they're alright. Aunt Clara turn off the light and turn the night light on.

Mackenzie:"goodnight muddy maddie"

I cuddled my teddy and slowly drifted to sleep.
