"Broken"
It had been three months since Killian's dad left to fight with the army in Iraq, and he had developed a rather serious case of anxiety. In fact, at one point it got so serious his mother had to take him to the doctor. After that day he had to take prescription medication to help with it.
It got better...but then it got worse.
One day when his mom was checking the mail she found a bunch of junk mail, some bills, and a letter from the United States Army adressed to Mrs. Rose Noble and family.
She started to panic. She didn't know what to do. She ran inside quickly and rushed in the door. Then she sat in the chair where her husband used to sit, and with trembling fingers opened the letter.
"Dear Mrs. Noble,
We are so very sorry to inform you that on this day, August 20, 2016, your husband Collin has passed away. He died with honor on the battle field, fighting selflessly to defend his country, his home, and his family. May God bless you and your family.
Sincerely,
USA ArmyShe could not even move. She re-read the letter over and over again until Killian got home. She was a mess. Her eyes puffy and red, her cheeks wet from tears, and her hair frizzy from holding her head in her hands.
The moment Killian walked in the door his heart stopped. He already knew. This was what he had known would happen all a long. There was no need to even read the letter his mother was holding because he already knew that his father was gone.
In that moment, his anxiety was cured. But his depression was diagnosed.
