//February 25, 2030. Copen Bridge, 12:34 PM//
Traffic had been really bad this morning. Apparently, there had been multiple wrecks from Connor's house to Copen Bridge, which was more than a little bit frustrating. We were trapped in traffic for multiple hours, so we ended up being super duper late for our meeting with the mystery caller known as L.
When we finally got there, the bridge was pretty much empty. It was closed for construction, but today must have been the day off for the construction workers since nobody was there.
Well, almost nobody was there.
One person stood on the bridge, leaning up against the side of a support beam for the bridge. "So you finally decided to show up. I was wondering how long it would take."
The girl wore all black. Loose black pants, black hoodie that was up to hide her face in shadow, and pitch black shoes that were somehow not dusty despite all the construction work going on. Her eyes were dark, but they still had a sense of warmth and kindness to them, which I found rather comforting at that time. I still do like it.
I gasped. The person looked and sounded like a girl, maybe eighteen or so. I predicted her to be about Celosia's age, which I suppose would explain the attitude that tinged her voice ever so slightly.
"Who are you?" Connor asked. "L... Why L?"
The girl didn't answer. She sounded completely different now since she a) wasn't talking and b) wasn't using a voice modifier. I hadn't heard her without it, and hearing a voice that didn't sound robotic sort of calmed me down.
I guess that was good since this was a rather intense moment...
"I don't believe I have to explain myself to you... And I know who you really want to see..." the girl said. She sounded rather relaxed, which I personally didn't think belonged in a time like this one where it was all intense and stuff.
"Who I want to see? I don't understand," Connor frowned.
Another person stepped out of the shadow. I gasped. "You're that June August girl, aren't you?!" I exclaimed.
"J-June..." Connor whispered, his eyes wide. He looked too surprised to speak. "I thought you were-"
"I know what you thought," June said. "And I'm sorry..."
Connor ran to June and wrapped his arms around her. I couldn't even see June since they were hugging just that tight. I was swept up in the moment and didn't even remember that mystery girl was standing feet away.
"I knew that's what would happen... That's why I didn't kill her," she said. "I could have, but I saved her... For this moment."
Connor pulled away from the hug, though June still clung to his arm as tightly as was humanly possible. "What are you talking about? You didn't kill her for this moment?"
"Well... Yes. I didn't want to attack her, so I made a fake body. Is that so wrong?" the mysterious girl frowned. I wanted to look a little bit closer at her, but I couldn't. Stupid hoodie...!
"You saved her life... But how? She was supposedly killed by the Kuranin, but they're all evil...!" Connor whispered. "Unless... You're not. You're against the Kuranin, aren't you?"
The girl nodded. "I hate them all. I want them all to die. That's why I tried to get the help of the investigators. Even now, I know exactly where they're located. They're hiding out somewhere underneath the Happy House Carnival, which is where they're keeping the hostages. Though since Interpol is so smart, I assume that all of you have the hostages back home, safe and sound," she told us.
"How did you know that?" Connor questioned.
"I was with them up until a few days ago. They told me that their backup spot was hidden beneath the carnival, and since that's their only backup, I knew that's where they would be with the hostages. Common knowledge and easy deductions, if you ask me," the girl explained.
"Maybe for you... But we're not that intimate with the Kuranin to know that sort of important knowledge and other things like that," Connor reminded her. "Now, there's one more important question I must ask of you since you've answered all the rest."
"Fire away, I suppose," the mystery girl said. She looked up from the ground to meet Connor's eyes.
"Just who are you? We never learned your name," Connor told her, starting to frown slightly.
The girl sighed. "I should have expected you to ask at some time or another... It was going to happen sooner or later."
"Then what is your name?"I asked.
The girl sighed. "I suppose that I have no choice but to tell you. Though it's not like I want to hide it anyways..."
The girl took off her hoodie and pants, tossing them aside. Underneath the black, she wore a green shirt with blue shorts. Yellow suspenders were attached to her hips on the front and at the back as well. Her hair was a strawberry blonde that fell down her back gently. A crown of teal hair wrapped around her head as well. Freckles dotted her cheeks and her bright turquoise eyes shone.
"Wait! I recognize you!" Connor gasped. "Aren't you...?!"
"Aren't I who?" the girl asked. She looked really friendly now that she wasn't lurking in the shadows near constantly, if not every second.
"You're Lynnette Farrell, aren't you?" Connor asked. "I heard that you had escaped from Interpol."
"So Ms. Farrell, the same one who was arrested from Interpol, is the one who has been calling us?!" I gasped. "That's crazy."
"In that case, you're not going to believe it when I tell you that Lynnette Farrell isn't even my real name," Ms. Farrell declared. She looked at us with a mix of fear and pride.
"What?" Connor echoed. "In that case... What in the world is your real name?"
"Since you're asking so much, I guess there isn't any harm in telling you. My real name... My real name is Lira Giuseppe," the girl told us, a smile spreading gently across her face.
