The dinner passed painfully slowly. We ate mostly in silence, Louis keeping his eyes on me and observing me carefully. I wasn't sure why, but I felt like he was analysing my features, trying to judge my expression. I didn't think it would be that hard to read, however, considering I made no attempt to hide my bafflement at the situation.
Why had there been so much tension between Louis and Greg at the table? Well, it wasn't so much tension, as dominance by Louis and submission by Greg. When I met Ste at the party, he had been introduced as Louis' friend, not as his enemy or nemesis, nothing to warrant such behaviour as had taken place at the beginning of the meal.
I was grateful once I had finished my main course. I was ready to get out of there, and right then and there. Louis looked up, offering a small smile, before reaching over and taking my hand.
"Dessert for the pretty lady?" he smiled cheekily, a dimple making itself prominent in his right cheek.
However, I was quick to decline.
"No, no," I replied in a hurry, "This has been enough, I'd rather just go home and get some rest, actually."
I made sure to flash a smile at the end of the sentence, as to try and fool Louis into thinking that there was no reason for my strange behaviour. He shot me a confused look, obviously wondering what had changed my mind so suddenly, but I ignored and ordered the bill, before shrugging my jacket over my shoulders once more.
Louis took care of the bill as I began to walk towards his car, deliberately taking slow, loping steps as I waited for him to catch up. It didn't take him long, and when he did, he slipped his hand into mine. Once we had reached the passenger door, he whirled me around to face him, before pushing me up against the door of the car and planting a strong kiss to my lips. One hand swept my hair back, while the other rested beside my waist, on the shiny surface of his flashy Audi.
He attempted to part my lips and, when I declined, he cupped my backside and pulled himself closer to me, trying once again, more forcefully this time. I had to admit, I almost caved, but I knew that I couldn't just let him win me over every time by turning me on. Plus, I didn't think it was suitable behaviour to be carrying on with in front of a very high-end five-star restaurant.
I gently pushed him off me, before helping myself into the passenger seat, leaving him puzzled and out of breath at the window. He slowly got the message, walking around to his side and sitting in. He glanced at me once more before igniting the engine, but I acted completely normal yet again.
Eventually, he turned his head back towards the road and shook his head lightly, before starting the engine. I couldn't help the amused smirk that crept slowly onto my lips at the thought that I was the one confusing him this time, and not the other way around, as it was usually.
I flicked on the radio to break the silence in the quiet car, and began to hum along to the song that came on. I stared out my window for the remaining minutes of the journey, only turning to unfasten my seat-belt when we were outside his house.
