There once was a young girl, who lived in a cabin far out in the woods with her mother and baby brother. She was a brave, talented and loving person. But most of all, she adored wolves. She prayed that when she passed, that she would come back as a wolf and help her family through their grief and hardships, until death greeted her once more.
One autumn day, she decided to go for a walk in the woods, alone. Before long it had gotten so dark, that the waxing moon lit up the leaf covered ground and became her only source of light. The girl was chilled by the wind and looking for some kind of shelter. She walked until her legs gave out and laid where she had fallen and looked at the star filled sky above her shivering body. Her skin was as pale as the very moon light that lit up her face.
She listened to the wind that blew through the trees' branches causing them to chatter as they bumped into each other gently, bring about music to the girls' ears.
The whistle of the winds' flute made up the melody to the autumn symphony. The shuffling of leaves in the wind made everything seem so calm. She closed her eyes and listened for a while until the beautiful sound of a pack of wolves howling reached her ears.
She listened closely to them with a tired smile upon her face. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a large wolf that she presumed was the alpha leading a hunt. Saying nothing, the girl did her very best to smile as a single tear rolled down her cheek. That was the only movement her body would allow, due to intense numbness of her limbs that was brought on by the cold autumn air. The alpha sat there and watched as the girl shivered uncontrollably, before howling loudly.
As if they were summoned, the rest of the wolves that were with the wolf, come out of the shadows silently and walked or ran over to the alpha, licking it and running around.
A few of the wolves started to walk over to the girl and she prepared herself for the pain that she anticipated, only to fill herself being slowly pulled across the ground by the back of her jacket. The girl lost consciousness shortly after. When she awoke, she saw a bunch of wolves staring at her with their heads tilted. She looked to her left, only moving her eyes, and saw the alpha she saw, before she passed out, laying beside her, along with a few others, keeping her warm. She looked around at her surroundings and noticed that she was inside a small cavern and it was still dark outside. After a short while, she fell asleep again.
Morning came and the sunlight was peacefully warm against the girls' skin. She felt something warm and wet go across her face. She slowly opened her eyes. The alpha was sitting next to her, licking her face. When the wolf realized that she was awake, it ran off. When it returned, it had a chunk of raw game in its' mouth. It walked over to the girl and dropped the meat in her lap as she sat upright.
The girl looked at the wolf who was staring patently back at her. The alpha nudged the meat with its' nose, indicating that it wanted her to eat it. She slowly took hold of the bloody meat. Hesitant to eat it, she slowly raise the meat to her mouth and took a bite. The wolf waged its' tail in satisfaction as it watched her eat.
When she had finished the last piece of meat, she attempted to stand, but the numbness in her legs had not yet receded and she fell to the ground again. The alpha titled its' head. It was most likely wondering what was the matter. It walked over to her, put its' head under her torso and lifted her up like it was teaching a pup to stand. The nimble movements of the alpha trying to help her, encouraged her to try again. The girl smiled at the wolf, crawled over to the cave wall and pulled herself up off of the ground. This time she had a little more feeling in her legs and slowly and weakly walked out of the cave, the alpha walking beside her.
