Chapter 1: The Outcast.
A peaceful morning, the sky was softly lit by the sun peering out only slightly. A young boy named Kavu left his house. Not long after he was joined by his friend Gyzev, who came along running. They converse as they pass the houses of their street.
Kavu: Geez I was wondering when you were gonna show.
Gyzev: Gimme a break I had a few errands to run (he said while panting)
Kavu: Mind telling what those are someday? You’re late every day.
Gyzev: In time, man, in time. All I know is, it’s gonna be big.
Kavu: If you say so, so how’s life been treating you?
Gyzev: Same ol’, same ol’, get the hang of adeptation yet?
Kavu: No, but what’s weird is… it feels like its …there (holds up hand)
it flickers on and off but…. I don’t know. I can’t make heads or tails of this.
Gyzev: I don’t have any more tips I can give you man, maybe you’re a late bloomer.
Kavu: …or maybe I’m not good enough…
Gyzev: (sigh) not this again. Look, you gotta start looking at this differently.
Kavu stopped walking, Gyzev turned about.
Kavu: I know that, you keep saying that, but it doesn’t keep it from getting to me.
It’s stressful, and not everyone can be as helpful as you are about it.
I’m constantly on edge because I’m afraid I’ll fail.
Gyzev: It’s that grim huh? Shake off that outlook, maybe today’s the day.
“Stay positive” Gyzev said with a slight chuckle
“Easier said than done” Kavu replied as he shrugged.
Kavu sighed, “it gets to ya, y’know?” “forget about it, let’s keep moving.”
As they kept walking they eventually arrive at their dojo, the whole scene was filled with energy as several other students were already present. As they stepped in they greeted Sensei Marcubo with a strong “Osu!” and proceeded to change into their training gear.
Sensei Marcubo approached Kavu and Gyzev.
Marcubo: Ahh Gyzev, you’re early, that’s a pleasant change.
Gyzev: Aww c’mon Teach, I told you, I have my reasons to be late normally.
Marcubo: I recall you being rather secretive about it.
Gyzev: It’s not like I can share it so easily (slightly sarcastic).
Marcubo: I suppose it’s better than you skipping training entirely
Sensei’s attention shifted to Kavu. He sternly called his name.
Marcubo: How are you, boy? I hope adeptation is going well.
Kavu looked down at the ground in silence for a moment before he replied “No sir”
Marcubo: Well then, I’ve consulted a few scrolls passed down from my family, we’re going to work on your adeptation after class.
