Josh's POV:
I finally arrive at her house I can see her bedroom light on and her looking out the window with Kris but they think I can't see them. She goes out of her room and turns the light off so I quickly get out and start walking to the door with the roses behind my back. I ring the door bell my hand is shaking
so much and she takes a few seconds to open the door. But when she does...
Recap over...
She slaps me straight in the face.
"Ow!!" I say while moving my jaw to see if it's broken or not. "What was that for?" I ask.
"That was for making me think of all the horrible possibilities of something happening to us! I was so scared you blew me off! Why did Alec do that to us? Did you ask him why?"
"Shelby calm down I'm sorry he did that but we can talk to him about it later. Lets get going to the place I'm taking you it's a surprise! Also you look amazing tonight like wow, I love you so much!"
"Thanks Alec lets go! Why does it have to be a surprise though I hate surprises! Can you please just tell me where we are going?"
"No you will have to wait to find out! Hopefully you will love it!"
On the way there we listen to music. We both like country so we listen to that. We just sat in silence but it's not a awkward kind of silence it's a comfortable silence.
Shelby's pov
I'm so mad he won't tell me where we are going and he knows that I don't like surprises. I hope this date goes well since it was so last minute, but if it does turn out bad, we can just have another first date.
Josh's pov
I really hope it isn't a long wait because I don't know where to go if there is. I hope everything goes well since this is our first unofficial/official date. I hope she likes everything I have planned!
We get to the restaurant and, like I expected, there is a hour and half wait. I ask if her if she wants to stay since it's so long and I haven't had dinner and I don't know if she has had dinner yet either. She said it doesn't matter and we both love chick-fil-a so we go there and get food. We get it to go. I take her to my favorite spot where you can see the whole city. It's so pretty. We sit on top of the roof and eat and just talk about things.
"I know this isn't what you think of when you say 'first date' but I hope you really like it!" Josh says to me when we finish eating our chick-fa-la.
"I love it! I also know this isn't what you wanted to do but I honestly love it more than a fancy restaurant!" I say back.
"Good. I was so worried that you would hate it and never want to go out on a date again. And I wouldn't be able to live of that happened." Josh says.
"I would never not want to go on a date with you. I love you to much not to... Wow that sounded really cheesy!" I say back laughing.
"I love you to and it did sound really cheesy!" He says laughing with me.
Once we finish laughing at my cheesy remark, we go to the lake right in front of us. My favorite place in the whole city is right here. I'm pretty sure that's why Josh took me here. He knows me too well. There is always a paddle boat at this lake for anyone to use. We get in it and start to paddle into the middle of the lake. We just sit there and lay back in our seats to look at the stars. While we look at them, Josh smoothly traps my hand and interlocks our fingers together. I smile and look over at him. He's still looking at the stars but has a really but grin on his face. I look back up and continue to look at the stars.
On our way home, it's silent again. It's a comfortable silence. This time, Josh has his hand on my thigh and I have my hand over his. Our fingers are interlocked just like there were in the middle of the lake. We pull into my driveway and see that everyone is home, including my older, over-protective brother, Aaron. We both get out of the car and he walks me up onto the front porch.
"I had a great time tonight!" Josh starts us off.
"Me too, I hope we can do it again sometime!" I say grabbing his hand.
"Yeah, me too!" He says and starts to lean in. I do to until my older brother happens to open the door and pull me inside.
"Goodnight Josh." Aaron says, pushing me inside the house.
"See ya tomorrow, Shelby." He says ignoring Aaron.
Crap, I forgot about school tomorrow. "Goodnight Josh." I say with a smile.
Aaron closes the door and starts to yell at me for not telling him about my date. I just take it and when he's done, I turn on my heel and head up the stairs to my room. I close and lock the door so I don't have to deal with Aaron again tonight. I pull out my phone and start to text Josh.
(S is for Shelby and J is for Josh)
S- hey I'm sorry about my brother. You know how protective he can be.
I hear a 'ding' faster than I thought and read it. It said...
J- it's okay. I've known him all my life. I hope we can have that kiss sometime soon without your brother interrupting this time.
I blushed at the is as I sat down on my bed.
S- yeah me too! Maybe tomorrow after school. You could drive me home. Aaron will be at work tomorrow after school.
Aaron works at chick-fa-la. Not the chick-fa-la that they went to on their date but a different one in their town.
J- yeah that sounds great. I'll see you tomorrow then?
S- yeah sounds great. I love you and goodnight
J- I love you too! Goodnight beautiful!
I slowly drifted off to sleep dreaming about that kiss that I will get tomorrow.
At least I thought I would get it.....
