"I can't believe you used mace on that guy!" Kiyomi said, walking alongside Tomone.

"Hey, he was hitting on us and wasn't stopping," the redhead responded, "What was I supposed to do?"

"Not mace the store supervisor!" the black haired girl exclaimed.

"Hey, don't get sassy," Tomone defended, "It's not like he knew who we were."

"Everybody knows who I am!" Kiyomi replied, with a barely faint smile, "People all over the world know who I am! I'm the spawn of a certified genius and getting close to being one myself and I've been deemed the world's third sexiest daughter of a successful nerd!"

"Touché," Tomone responded, looking up with a finger on her chin and her elbow resting on her other arm.

"So now you've banned us from yet another store," Kiyomi said, smiling, "Agh, you're lucky I have more patience with you than your ex-boyfriends."

"True," Tomone giggled, "Can I, like, have your teeth? Because they're perfect and I like the whole fang thing you've got going on there."

"They're not fangs," Kiyomi answered, "And no."

"Miss Hikari?" a male voice chirped from behind the two.

"Hm?" Kiyomi hummed, turning around.

It was a mailboy, just as tall as Kiyomi and fairly lean, holding a black backpack. He had a black beanie on his head, which completely covered his hair and had slide-shades. (Slide-shades are like sunglasses without the nose bridge and earpieces. They're these little black arrow-shaped mechanisms that go on the far outside corners of your eyes, and have shaded lenses that slide out when needed. And for those of you who are probably thinking, "Did he get that from the game Deus Ex?" Yes, yes I did. :))

"I have a package for you," the boy said, pulling out a large tan envelope.

"Really?" Kiyomi questioned, taking the package, "From who?"

"Can't tell ya," the mailboy replied, "Can't breach the confidentiality of my customers, plus it pisses my boss off."

"Right, sorry," the girl said, "Nice shades."

"No need to pay, by the way," the boy said, beginning to run off, "And thanks. Take care!"

Two seconds passed when Kiyomi realized something.

"Wait, it's ten o' clock at night," she said, starting to turn around, "It's pretty dark to be wearing sungla--"

She instantly became bewildered and confused.

"Where'd he go?" Kiyomi asked aloud, her eyes scanning the area.

"What do you mean? He 's right th--" Tomone realized, "What? Maybe we lost him in the crowd."

"There's barely anybody here," Kiyomi brought up, "We couldn't have lost him in a crowd this light."

"Anyways, what's in the package?" the redhead asked.

"Let's find out," Kiyomi said, tearing off the seal.

She peered inside and her eyes widened. Inside it was a black dagger with unintelligible runes on the blade.

"It's a knife," Kiyomi said, quietly.

"Wait, there's something on the back," Tomone pointed out.

Kiyomi turned the package and saw writing on the back. It said:

Happy Birthday, you're going to need this.

"Why am I going to need it?" Kiyomi asked, confused.

"And why is it glowing?" Tomone added.

The black haired girl looked and saw the runes were glowing as if they were burning.

Kiyomi felt her phone buzz in her pocket. She pulled it out and gazed at the screen. She was getting a Skype call from her dad. She tapped the green button.

"Hi, how are my two favorite girls?" Kenya asked, amusingly. The man had gotten a couple iron grey hairs on the sides and a few wrinkles on the sides of his eyes.

"We've been banned from another store," Kiyomi replied with a smug smile.

"Again?" the father whined, "Really, Tomone?"

"Sorry," the redhead apologized.

"So anyway, look what I got you for your birthday," Kenya said, holding up a clean, black scarf.

"You remembered!" Kiyomi exclaimed.

"Twenty years old, one of the richest people in the world and all you wanted for your birthday was a scarf," Tomone said, "You are so weird."

"Five boyfriends, Tomone," Kiyomi responded, "Five boyfriends."

"Anyway, when you get home, I have someone here I want you to meet," the father said, "How soon can you get home?"

"About an hour, hour and a half," the girl replied.

"Alright, see you soon," Kenya waved goodbye.

"Bye," Kiyomi said, hanging up, and turned to Tomone, "Duty calls."

"See ya," the redhead responded, "I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you'll find someone special."

"In your dreams," Kiyomi replied, waving goodbye, and placing the envelope with the knife in her jacket.

Why would I need this? And why tonight of all nights? she thought.
