"Now, remember, um, answer questions 129 through 151, evens only.  Um, due Friday," the boring 10th grade math teacher of Cloverheart Academy  said in his voice that made me want to fall asleep.  The intercom crackled with age and the voice of the secretary drifted into the classrooms and halls.

"Boys and girls," said Ms. Hudson. "Remember that tomorrow is the last day to sign up for Star Struck!  Remember, do any talent and just a reminder, there will be scouts in the audience!"  Everyone in the class cheered, obviously hoping to get noticed.  Me?  Well, I think I'm going to juggle.  Again... For the third year in a row...

Let me explain.  Star Struck is a night at my school where students can do any talent they have and possibly get noticed.  But, hardly anyone gets noticed.  I had been here since kinder garden and only three people have in all those years.

"So, what are you gonna do this year?"  My best girl friend, Caitlin, said as she leaned over to me.

"Juggling," I said with a shrug.

"Are you serious?  C'mon!  Do something else!  Please!"  She said, giving me puppy dog eyes she knew I couldn't resist.

"Fine!"  I said, giving in.  She squealed and began bouncing in her seat.  The bell rang, singnaling Lunch qnd everyone grabbed their bags and ran out into the hall.  As I tried walking to my locker, Caitlin yanked me over to the crowded sign up sheet for Star Struck.

"No! No no no no no!"  I whined as she picked up the pen to sign up.  She shoved the pen into my hand and I weakly wrote my name in my swoopy hand writing.

"Yay!"  SHe said as we walked over to to our lockers..

   30 39 15.

I spun my lock and pulled open my locker.  I grabbed my lunch and and shoved my backpack in, hoping it wouldnt fall.  I saw it wobbling so I quickly closed my locker and leaned against it, waitling for Caitlin to hurry up and finish.

I slid into the big booth in the lunchroom as we waited for Jace, Shane, and Ace.  I looked to the double doors of the cafeteria and say the three of them walking in, talking and laughing.  They walked over to Caitlin and I and slid in, Shane sitting next to Caitlin and Jace and Ace on both sides of me.

"Hey," I said, picking up a green grape and popping it into my mouth

"So what are you doing for Star Struck?"  Jace asked, addressing the table.

"I'm hoping Cyrina sings this year,"  Shane said, snickering.

"Screw you," I said jokingly and threw a grape across the table, hitting Shane lightly in the eye.  It fell onto his leg and he picked it up, then popped it into his mouth.

"My grape..." I said and threw another grape at Shane.  It bounced off of his forehead and into Jace's mouth across the table.  I stiffled my laughter by holding my hand over my mouth as Caitlin began cracking up.

"Back to the topic from before," said Shane.  "Will you sing, Cyrina?"  He looked at me with his sparkling blue/grey eyes and flicked his caramel hair out of his face.

I let out a groan and said, "fine".  After I said that, a chorus of small cheers erupted from the table.

"If," groans sounded. "You sing with me, Shane."

  "What?" He asked, coughing.

"The song I want to sing is a duet," I said.  "And since I'm singing and it was your idea, I choose you to do a duet with me," I said, an evil grin forming on my face.

"Okay.  What song?" He asked as I took a bite of an oreo.

  "I'll tell you later."

"You dont know what song, do you?"

  "Nope," I said snickering.

  "Bitch," he said, jokingly.
