Just a short story I wrote Listen to song while reading please.
I was greeted by the ray of sunlight shinning dimly through my window. I let out a sigh. I turned to my side to see if my brother still sleeping. He wasn't there. Only thing was a note that was thumbtacked to his side of the wall. His hat and his journal he carried with him was gone. Did he go out into the woods again? That boy loves adventure.
I sat up on my bed and let out a yawn. I slipped my slippers on as I stood up. I walked towards my brothers bed. I picked up the clean sheet of paper and read what was written in my brothers sloppy handwriting.Dear Rachel,
If your reading this I'm long gone. I'm off into the new world. The world I dreamed off! The one I told you about. I'm ready for my adventure. I no longer want to live in a sheltered house anymore. I don't want to be the rich boy anymore. I want to make adventures. Tell mom and dad that I love them deeply but I won't live in a house were it won't let me have my adventures. I'm going to find the place I saw in my dreams. I will return and bring you with me. But till then this is goodbye for now. See you soon.

MasonA smiled formed on my face as I fell on my bare knees with tears falling. Memory's flashed of my brother. His big blue eyes that held curiosity and brown hair that never stayed down.
This day was bound to happen. He was always the one up for adventure. He told me everyday about this fantasy world. A place he felt like he belonged. A place where his curiosity would fly. He begged me every time to visit it with him. But I told him to get those silly thoughts out of his head. I held the piece of paper close. Tears fell as I held the note tightly.
I heard the door creak open. I turned my head to see my parents standing in the door way. They called my name with fear in there voice. There eyes laid on the note that was barred into my arms. Tears flooded both there eyes. My mother cupped her mouth as if to say No. My father just hugged me and cried with me.

I walked deeper into the woods holding my journal in my arms. My hat sat on my head as I looked around. I didn't dare look back. The smell of fresh grass and the sound of the creek played softly. The woods was always my kind of place.I looked up to watch the sunrise and the fresh breeze hit my face. I started to pick up pace. The birds singing lingered in the sky. Soon my laughter played into the soft tune.

I sat at the window in my old house staring. Today was the first day of Summer. Memory's from my childhood flashed. My mom and dads singing played softly. Tears started to cloud my sight. "Mommy?" I turned to see my three year old daughter, Gaby. "I found this! It a note. Daddy told me to give it to you."
I took the crumpled dirty note from her hands and kissed her forehead. I sent her off to play. As soon as she left I opened the note. Time stopped as I laid eyes on the writing. Tears were full on falling down my pale cheek.Dear Rachel,

MasonMason...my dear baby brother. How could I forget? I looked out the window. You never came back. Did you ever find your adventure? Did you ever find the place of your dreams? "Rachel! Your not playing fare!" I turned around in fear and dropped the note that was in my hands. Laughter that I've heard before played in my head.
A small boy with big blue eyes filled with excitement and messy brown hair. "Follow me!" The boy ran and I followed calling his name. I ran down my stairs after the boy. "Rachel! Hurry up! Mom and dad said we can't be out late!" I ran outside chasing the boy into the woods. "Rachel! Hurry! We don't have much time! Adventure awaits!" Crying I shouted wait. The boy just giggled. "Nope! Almost there! I can't wait!" Suddenly the bright day I saw turned into cold wet rain. "Rachel!" This time I didn't answer. I just ran following the boy. He suddenly stopped dead in his tracks. "We're here!" I walked next to the boy to see a grave stone. One I've never seen. It was sitting on the hill as if it was looking at at the horizon. I walked up to the chunk of stone and read the stone. In Memory Of

A kind boy looking for adventure.I turned to the boy who smiled. "See! I told you I would come back!" His bright blue eyes stared into my jade green ones. My tears were uncontrollable. I hugged my baby brother tightly. "It's okay sis! I had an adventure! I want you to find my dream place now! Just look at the horizon! Adventure is out there! You just need to find it!" I shook my head. He's dead. He's gone. Ran back to the wet stone crying I started digging it up with my bare hands.
I reached the bottom to see a rotting corpse holding a too familiar journal and wearing my brothers favourite hat. I removed the journal and took the hat off its head. I stood up and held it close.
"Oh my god Rachel!" I looked up to see my husband running towards me with the kids. He ran right through my brother who was frowning. "You grew up?" Mason asked painfully. "Rachel! Speak to me! Shit! Rachel! It's freezing!" I started deeply into the boys eyes. He looked at the horizon. "Rachel! What are you looking at?"
Mason walked to the edge of the hill. "Rachel. I have to go. My friends are calling for me." He turned to me and smiled. I screamed his name and I tried to grab his arm but I just went right threw him. "I love you sister." I screamed no as he started to disappear. "I love you too."Well that made me cry. This is based off the song After the War. I was going to make this a book but I was like nahh!
