Secret Lovers

Christina Chapter 9

I looked over and saw Alexis with her face in shock. I couldn't really hear and my vision was blurred. It looked like they were arguing I saw Silver reach her arm over and slap her hand across Alexis's face. There was a red mark across her caramel skin. Alexis touched where Silver just slapped her. You could see the anger written across her face. Her face snarled up and she clinched her fist as she charged at Silver. They were fighting. I tried to get up and a piercing pain shot through my whole body starting at my leg. I screamed out in pain which caused them to stop fighting. Doctors rushed in by my side and asked Silver and Alexis to leave. As they walked out they both looked back at me before one of the doctors shut the door in their faces. The doctors were checking my blood pressure and they gave me a pill to help me go back to sleep. I don't even remember what happened. All I remember is going up for a layup and coming down on my leg wrong. Next thing I know I'm in the hospital with Alexis on one side and Silver on the other. Alexis was up and she told me everything that happened. I almost threw up at the image of my bone being out of my leg. It reminded me of what happened to Kevin Ware in the Duke vs. Louisville game.

    When I got out of the hospital my parents drove me home. The doctors put me on crutches for a month and I can't play basketball for the rest of the season. I laid across my bed with my leg propped up on soft pillows. I had my beats headphones on blasting the music into my ears. I closed my eyes and thought about how fucked my life is. I'm probably about to lose Silver because of Alexis. I lost basketball and now I can't do anything for myself anymore. I have to be driven around like a child. The doctor said someone has to carry my books to class. I decided that I'm going to stay home from school tomorrow.  I felt someone touched me and my eyes sprung open in fear. I took my headphone off and looked up at Alexis.

    "Hey," I said as she took a seat on my bed.

    "Hi," she said.

    "So, what brings you here," I asked nervously.

    "I knew you and Silver had a thing going on," before I could say anything she continued.

    "But I don't care, I want you Chris. She can't do anything about it sense she has Randy. If you don't ask me out I will tell Randy about you and Silver. We wouldn't want that to happen. Randy will be so crushed that his new best friend and his girlfriend are fucking behind his back and let's not imagine what would happen if her mother found out," I cut her off.

    "Okay, I get it, but I'm not going to stop what I have with Silver,"

    "I don't expect you to but when you're around me all of that needs to stop and whatever I say goes or I will make sure you never see Silver again," she said as she moved closer to me. I felt anger and sorrow both filling me. I had to keep myself from putting my hands on her.

(Three months later)

I walked out to softball practice with my arms wrapped around Alexis we have been 'dating' for three months. It actually isn't bad being in a fake relationship with her. My mother loves her. She has been over for dinner and spent the night a few times. Randy and Silver are also dating. When I told her about everything that happened with Alexis three months back she flipped. Her and Alexis stop being friends until she realized that if she wasn't friends with Alexis she couldn't being around me as much. When I got on the field I stood on the pitchers mount. I looked over to my left to see my girlfriend on third base and to the right, the love of my life on first base. I am so in love with Silver and I haven't told her yet. I just don't want to make the situation harder on her. The coach told everyone to run the usual lap with the captain leading. I got in the front of the line as the rest of the line pairs in twos and runs behind each other. I got in the front of the line and started the off with a soft jog. Being captain of the softball team is actually fun. Silver has influenced me to do a lot of new things like sports and joining more clubs. Now I have more school spirit because of her. I use to dread going here now I can't wait to come here and see Silver. After we ran a half mile lap around both the varsity and junior varsity field we got back in our starting positions. The catcher got in position and the coach put people up to bat. As the batter got into position the catcher signaled me to pitch a curve ball. Even though I haven't been pitching long it kind of all come like second nature. I whined my arms around and pitched the ball. The batter hit the ball and it was a line drive right back to my glove. I caught the ball and the next batter stepped up. As I set myself back into position the catcher motioned for a fast ball. When I pitched the ball the batter hit it and it flew over to third base. It bounced before Alexis got it and the batter got to first base. I threw another fast pitch and the next batter struck out. I threw another pitch to the batter and it was a fly ball. It rolled to Alexis and when she picked it up she threw it fast to second base. she got the batter out and when the second basemen threw it to first she Silver caught it but it was too late. After practice I walked over to my car and opened the door for Alexis. As she sat down I closed the door and went over to the other side. When I got in I started the car and pulled off. We were listening to a song by the weeknd. Alexis was jumping around in her seat singing and I couldn't help but laugh at her. She was adorable. She pulled out her phone and started to snap chat her doing that. She leaned over and gave me a kiss. I smiled and she put her phone away. Me and Alexis have really built a relationship since we've been 'dating'. We are like best friends with benefits with a title. As I continued to drive I felt her coming closer to me. She lifted up out of her seat and started kissing on my neck. I tried to stay focused but I've been sexually deprived. I always tell Alexis no when she tries to have sex because I wouldn't want to do that to Silver but it's been over a month and she has been really attached to Randy.
