Basketball season was just starting. Mr. Parker was The coach for our team. I walked into the gym with my friends and we took a seat. I glanced over, And me and Mr. Parker made eye contact. He smirked at me and looked away. My heart fluttered but I just ignored, he usually act this way with other people so I didn't think anything of it. The game went on and nothing really happened.
"Arden, you really need to stop watching him, it's getting really creepy" opal said to me. I didn't realize I was staring until she said something. "I can't help it, the man is one tall glass of handsome" Quinn laughed at me and nudged me to look in front of us. It's him. Why is he here? Of course he's here. Trevor. Trevor was my ex boyfriend. He was 3 years older than me, and was a huge douchebag. Thankfully, he avoided me completely and walked over to his other douchey friends.
An hour, two awkward glances, and three popcorns between the three of us later, all the student section was in the main lobby. I wasn't really talking to anyone in particular, so I walked off to the bathroom. I bumped into someone really hard, and papers went flying everywhere. "Shit!" I screamed. "Bentley, you're lucky we're not in my classroom." "Sorry, Mr. P. I just wasn't expecting to plow anyone down tonight." I helped him pick up all the score sheets he had dropped in our exchange. "You know, I didn't expect to be plowed down by one of my students tonight. Looks like we're both a little surprised." He pulled me up from the spot that I had landed on. "Please be careful. You seem to always be in that little world of yours, and I don't want to see you get hurt." My heart almost beat out of my chest. "I'm sorry, a lot has just been going on tonight.." I trailed off. With perfect timing, Trevor walked by. "Hey Ardy," he said. I hate when he calls me that. "Hi" I said, looking down. "Want to come over tonight? We could catch up a little bit" he nudged me. I started to get really uncomfortable, so I said "no thanks" and I started to walk away, leaving Mr. Parker as well as Trevor. I felt a tug on my arm. "Come on Ardy, please?" "Look, she said no." I heard Mr. Parker say. "Whatever. She's not special anyway" I rolled my eyes and continued walking away. This time, Mr. Parker joined me. "What was that about?" He asked me. "Ex boyfriend," I trailed off. We continued our walk to the main lobby in silence. Once we got there, I realized everyone had cleared out of the lobby, including Quinn and Opal. Panic started to take over me, which Mr. Parker must have seen. "Do you have a ride home?" He asked. "No. My cell phone battery is drained, and I have no idea what to do." "I can take you home if you like," He suggested. "Is that even legal?" I asked. I'm sure our principals wouldn't like the idea of a teacher taking a student home. "Arden, I'm not leaving you here at the school, alone at night," He said. "Okay. Thank you, you're my hero," I told him.
