Chapter 5
Draco packed his clothes inside his black travel bag with a smile on his face. They have finally given him permission to go home after more than two weeks of recovery. His wounds and stitches still hurt a bit, he'd get alarmed when some still open and bleed, but that was just when he'd move in a hurry. Never in his whole life did he think he'd ever get hit by that spell again, but he did, four times, and he hated himself for that, but as Mrs Weasley said 'it's not your fault he was too boring to look at.' He had laughed terribly at this, and he smiled at the thought of his new friends.
Friends, he thought. Back at Hogwarts, he could just count his friends in one hand. His real friends. Crabbe, Goyle, Blaise. Theodore, too, when he still wasnt a pig and dared impregnate his girlfriend. But now? He smiled at the thought.
Mrs Weasley, Ginny and Luna visited him at least every two days in his whole stay at St Mungo's. They'd always bring pie, and even made green apple pie as for his request. "That'd make a pretty sour pie, honey," he remembered Mrs Weasley say, and it did, but he liked it anyway.
Blaise got to visit him thrice and even stayed with him all night at those three visits against the healers who wouldnt let anyone stay later than an hour before midnight. They talked about the ex-death eaters that attacked him, and of course Hermione. Draco appreciated the fact that he could take to his friend about Hermione, although half of the time Blaise did nothing but tease him and imagine scenarios about them two, he enjoyed his company.
Even Ron visited him too twice with Harry, who checked up on him almost everyday in the afternoon to keep track on his recovery. Ron had nudged and bumped his wounds and stitches too like Harry, he got pissed, he'll admit that, but accepted the company nonetheless.
Draco had insisted to get back on rounds the moment they let him out but Harry had asked for an additional week of recovery for Draco from the Ministry. They have given him four days, and Draco decided he'd take the chance to catch up on flying.
Draco got the small bottle of dittany from the side table and smiled. Hermione. Hermione had given him dittany when she found out he was allowed to go home despite some stitches not fully healed. She didnt really like the fact that his stitches kept opening a bit, and instructed him very carefully to put on dittany at least twice a day.
Draco held the dittany in his hands and sat against the bed thinking about the past two weeks and more. Hermione visited him everyday. She'd always come in early afternoons after work, sometimes still in her work clothes, and she'd stay with him until she gets kicked out by healers so late at night. She'd stay with him even when he's asleep, or pretending to be asleep, and he watched her when sometimes she'll bring paperworks from the Ministry and do it there, beside him. She'd bring food, mostly hot soup and sometimes sweets like his favorite green licorice sticks, and sometimes she'd bring him muggle food like burgers and pizza, per his request. They had talked about muggle food once in her visits and he got curious like crazy. She had laughed at how reluctant he was at first when she showed him the pizza, and just after a minute was gobbling it up like there was no tomorrow.
Everyone who visited saw her with Draco, and sometimes he guessed maybe Hermione didnt realize the fact that everyone may think something was going on because she'd greet everyone who visited him with a smile. She'd go out of the room and let his visitor for the day have time with him, and then she'd stay with him after again, asking about the visit. He wanted to ask her at one point why she was doing it, staying with him at the hospital, but he thought against it and decided to just live in the moment. He remembered the first time he asked her if she was worried for him, and saw her stuttering once again. Maybe she didnt know why too, but one day he knew they would.
