Chapter 7

Harry Potter wiped the foam of the butterbeer from the top of his mouth and smiled eagerly at his two bestfriends. It was a late Friday afternoon and he finally got a break from the job, frankly, he couldnt be anymore relieved. Together with Ron and Hermione, they decided to grab butterbeers at The Three Broomsticks before heading home.

"So, you mind explaining how you got out of auror duties this early in the week?" Ron asked. He himself just got out of work too after Quidditch training with the national team rookies.

Harry motioned to the bartender and ordered his third mug of butterbeer. He smiled. "Finished rounds early."

Ron mocked him. "Yeah right, for all I know you just got the trainees filling up work hours for you."

Harry feigned hurt. "Of course not!" he answered, but broke into a grin a bit later. "Although I may have made it an incentive for them to stay a bit longer in my absence."

"You're a crooked auror captain, you know that?" Ron commented as he too ordered another mug of beer for him.

Hermione chuckled at this. "As if you normally get out of work early too Ronald, how are the rookies?"

Ron snickered. Just last month, he got promoted to the international board of trustees for Quidditch where Blaise was a part of too, and he generously offered to train the rookies before their debut to the nationals. In addition to that, he's up for promotion again next year for Head Wizard in his department. In a grateful way, he knew all those hardwork he put in and catering to all his superiors before were worth it.

"Sent them home early, H. Besides, just because they're rookies, doesnt mean they suck. I mean, they're debuting as part of the national team for a reason," he replied, chugging down his beer.

The brown haired witch scoffed with amusement, "For all I know, youre just bailing on them," she said, mocking his comment at Harry earlier.

Ron looked at her with an offended expression but laughed nonetheless. "I would never! And besides, it wouldnt be bad news for you if I did would it? Would give the Bulgarians some edge yeah?" He gave Hermione a teasing look.

Harry snickered at this, making Hermione shoot him an unimpressed look. It has been a habit of the two of them to bring up Viktor Krum every now and then, considering he was Hermione's first everything. Unlike Ron who opted on to a more sedentary lifestyle of training the rookies, Viktor held his title as Bulgaria's most prized Quidditch player up until now.

Hermione rolled her eyes.

"See, this is the reason why we stopped telling each other everything, you guys," Hermione said, looking at them pointedly, "are just jerks. Viktor's married for crying out loud."

Harry clunked his glass over to a pissed-off Hermione. "Oh c'mon, Mione, no use faking being pissed off, we know you're pretty settled in yourself."

Ron shot Harry a confused look while Hermione all but glared at him. Harry gave them both a silly smile. "What do you mean?" Ron asked.

Hermione was about to argue but Harry beat her to it, lightly slamming the mug of beer on the table. "Nothing wrong with settling in, H. Nothing wrong with that."
