Hailey's P.O.V
"Hey."
Stary-Guy and Elizabeth had already given their - very awkward - hello's and were talking about who knows what. Me, I was standing a few feet away from them, giving them some privacy. I was doing just fine until Stary-Guy's friend decided to talk to me.
"Hello." Giving a wave and a smile, I turn to face him. The least I could do is be nice to his friends. "I'm Hailey."
"Names' Javier," He responded, a smile spreading across his face. "But most people call me JV."
"Alright, JV," I start, "What're we going to do today?"
JV seems to be thinking for a second before saying, "Well, first we gon' go to the movies and might watch this new 'supposed to be' scary movie, then we'll go eat somethin'. All that after we meet up with the others though."
"Oh, alright." I see that Stary-Guy and Eli were already heading toward the front seats of the car. I also begin to walk toward the car when JV suddenly stops me.
"Oh! Let me." He goes to open the door, doing an overdramatic courtesy bow with his right hand extended. I laugh at this, and so does he. He better not think this is a double date.
We sit in the car, each separated, and next to the windows. The music that's playing on the radio would make any normal person scream in agony, seeing as it was so loud - though, I was already used to these types of environments.
JV seemed nice enough though. All through his weird sense of fashion, like most of the other teenage boys nowadays - otherwise known as fuckboys -, it seemed quite of a follower's choice. With a simple t-shirt and saggy pants, he is not the type of boy I did see myself with. A really good friend at most.
Not that I'm here to find me a boy though. I am sorely here to support Elizabeth through this nerve wrecking experience. That, and making sure this boy ain't a creep.
As we go through the streets, JV tries to start up a conversation - which I don't mind, but he did have to lean over quite often because his voice couldn't be heard over the music. By the time we reached the movie theater, I've got that JV is originally from Panamá, likes reading comics, rap music, has low grades, and has a really chill personality. Most of which are really similar to me, except for the low grades part, and that I love reading all types of books, novels, series, graphic novels, and comics. Real nerd over here.
"So, I see you're talking to Matt's friend." Eli had come over to my side after we stepped out of the car, and is now walking with me right behind the boys. "Looks like you might not like Blake as much as I thought," she says playfully.
"I'm just being nice, and you should know that he's not my type," I answer looking at JV, who is walking in front of us with Matt, talking about whatever. "Also, I don't like that one who shall not be named."
"Yeah, sure." Eli rolls her eyes, "keep acting like you didn't confess your undying love for him just this morning."
"I'm not quite sure of what you're talking about, maybe I was still a little dazed," I respond, ignoring the fact that I did say I liked Blake just this morning. It's just... I don't want to like my brother's best friend. At this point in my life, I feel like I shouldn't be liking anyone, or be thinking of anyone on that light for that matter.
I am focusing on my studies, and that's how's going to stay. I may party a lot, but that does not mean I have thrown my future down the shit pit. This is my senior year, and I can't fuck it up now.
Soon enough, we have reached the front of the movie theater. And, because Eli is here to spend time with Matthew and not me, I push her towards him when she had spent more than enough time with me. Also keeping in mind the fact that I was trying to stop thinking about Blake (and failing miserably), and her simply mentioning his name made my heart beat a thousand times faster than it should be.
