I had all these dreams, about freedom and a life beyond the one I was living, all of these sad melancholy dreams that rotted away at me by day and by night, but I was okay and I lived with them, I let them grow between the cracks in my ribs, I let the vines of inspiration tie their way around my beating heart, until they crushed it.
These dreams were never a reality of the life I live, the war stricken land I grow up in. Riddled with tzitz, the souls of all my people were being taken everyday, we were under tight rule and our land which fed the appetite of nature was crumbling, there was only one person that could save us, and that was me.
Chapter 1
I knew of the prophecy since the tzitz took over our land 10 years ago, and since then the Pryor people have been waiting. We were a strong tribe of fairies, known for our abilities with the elements of the earth, and the beauty and ability of our wings. Forever the pryors had been the rulers of the all the fairy tribes, we even grew the biggest, and our wings were the most magnificent in size. With the take over by the tzitz demons, the whole world of fairies is coming to us, to me to save the realm. I am the daughter of Tara, Queen of the pryors, and Alaric, King of the Pryors, they are fair rulers and I, known amongst the lands am the chosen one. My real name however, is Elita, and I am mastering my abilities in controlling all of the earthly elements, to save my people.
"Elita" My father's voice rang through the castle, and up to my room.
"Yes father" I called back nonchalantly.
"Come eat with us, we have company" My head was spinning with confusion, my father would never yell so unprofessionally with company around, unless
"Maximus Jeshua Galvador is that you" A smile spread its way across my face, and I flew the length of the room.
"Elita Veronica Pryor, our savior" Max dropped to his knees in a mock bow and opened his arms wide, I flew right into them in a swift, tackling motion, he flew backwards and caught himself before we both went flying into the hard castle wall.
"Oh jeez Elita you're going to make me break a wing" Max chuckled and wrapped his arms around me, smirking. I laughed at him, shaking my head in fake annoyance.
"Okay enough of this you're making me gag" My father chuckles and looks between the two of us, smiling a grin big enough to be mistaken for the cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland, I do wonder how that human found out about Wonderland, I've been meaning to pay it a visit.
"Maximus why're you here, I thought you were out looking for one of the ancient ones, the one to teach me the abilities of water"
"Well Elita, I found her, she is journeying here now and should be here by tomorrow's sunset, your dad wanted me to travel back before her, he said he wants to talk to us" Max smiled a proud smile.
"Yes Max you're right, I did, Follow me" Max and I Followed my dad up the castle stairs, past the conference room and into the living room my Dad only uses when he's delivering bad news. I stopped at the doorway and looked at my father, whose face had turned a slight shade paler than usual.
"Whats wrong"
"A few things actually, however we are here to talk about only one"
"And that is what?" My voice was shaken, I was nervous.
"You both know what May 12 is correct? Next month?" I laughed, why was this a big deal?
"My 18th Birthday"
"Do you remember what happens to fairies on their 18th Birthday? I'm surprised Maximus hasn't found his yet he's been 18 two days"
"Yes, you find your Kindred spirit" I say this quickly, realizing what my dad was going to say.
"Honey you and Max have been together since you guys were 15 years old, but Max, is not your kindred Spirit, it didn't happen, he didn't have the voice tell him, the sparks did not go off, you guys are and will be nothing more than friends, because one day soon the other half of your two spirits will find each other" Tears streamed down my face, I knew this was coming, I tried time and time again to prepare myself for it but I couldn't, I Can't, It was supposed to be him, he was my Kindred Spirit, he was my soul.
"Max we can make this work tell him, we don't need soul mates we have each other, the universe must have got it wrong this time, it's supposed to be me and you, tell him, tell him you got the sparks" My Voice became frantic, I was sobbing so hard the whole realm could probably hear me. It was supposed to be him and I.
"Elita I can not tell him that, but for now we can make it work, right Sir? For now, until her birthday, until we can find our loves" Max looked at my father with eyes that screamed please, I was sick to my stomach.
"Elita it is against my better judgment to do so, however you will never forgive me unless I let you try, so yes Max for now until you find your kindred spirits, at least you have each other"
I sucked in a breath so quickly it burnt my lungs, I smiled as big as the greatest ocean.
"Thank You father, Thank you so much"
"Oh Elita, I hope for your sake that this helps you more than hurts you" My father smiled a small, sad smile, he reached out to me and patted my knee, then he looked at Maximus, nodded, and began to walk out of the room. He stopped at the door way and muttered "I really do hope so" before walking out of the room.
