Hermione's POV:

Hermione woke up at an owl knocking its beak on the window glass. She walked to the kitchen and opened the window.

The owl looked familiar, for she only knew one person in her life who was using an eagle owl: Draco Malfoy.

Curiously now, she tore open her letter mail and recognized Draco's slant penmanship.

Dear Hermione,

I just read your letter last night, and I wouldn't be aware of your vacation if not for my mother, who was kind enough to send your letter to me. I'm currently here at The Burrow with the Weasleys and Harry. Something awful conspired at my flat that I couldn't stay in that filthy place. It will take a long time for me to step inside again.

I can't give you the details exactly; it's hard to talk about it right now. All I can tell you is that Astoria and I are done. I will be on vacation, too, in the muggle world.

I'm hoping to catch up with you soon. So don't worry about me, I'll be fine.

Yours sincerely,

Draco

Oh, dear. Hermione's heart instantly went out to Draco. What could have happened? She had a sick feeling that Astoria betrayed him for another man and that conspired inside his flat. Their flat.

Could she do such a thing? Astoria Greengrass came from one of the few remaining pureblood families in Britain. Tarnishing her family's honour by such an act of disgrace could practically disinherit her.

Seriously, could there be more pureblood bachelors more eligible than Draco Lucius Malfoy?

As if reading her thoughts, her owl came with a copy of The Daily Prophet, and Draco and Astoria's break up is on the headline.

Draco Malfoy, son of the late infamous Death Eater Lucius Malfoy, dumped by fiancée Astoria Greengrass for an unknown Muggle man.

They brought an unidentified person to St. Mungo's around half-past nine last night, barely recognisable due to all the cuts and bruises the man received. According to sources, Narcissa Malfoy's order, the widow of Lucius Malfoy and mother of the Cannon's quidditch captain Draco Malfoy brought the man there. They carried the man out from Draco Malfoy's flat. Half an hour that they got the man, Astoria Greengrass arrived and demanded to see the unidentified man whom she called 'Dustin'.

Astoria Greengrass refused to give any statement about last night's event. Instead, it was Narcissa Malfoy who stated the issue:

"I would like to say that the speculation about last night's event is true: his long-time girlfriend, live-in partner, and fiancée has betrayed my son. I daresay you already know who. Her family will not contradict this statement, I'm sure, knowing what a disgrace this is to their 'pureblood' ideals. To mate with muggleborns is one thing, to mate with muggles is an entirely different thing."

Hermione couldn't help but feel angry about what happened to Draco. At least her break-up with Ron didn't happen like this. The nerve that Astoria had to go behind her fiancé's back. And with a muggle! How far did she want to insult her friend? She could have chosen at least a decent muggle-born wizard.

Hermione has already proven that the Malfoys had already changed their point of view about blood purity after The War and was vocal about it upon Lucius' death‌ what Astoria did is an outright insult to Draco.
