CHAPTER 11:
Jake's POV
***
I re-read it over and over fifty times and listened to it hundreds of times before sealing it up and bringing it to the post office. I hesitantly handed it to them, but I knew it was a chance of a life time. There was an extra copy at home that I knew I would listen to nonstop to find mistakes while they decide who the winner is.
I walked out of the post office and into my car. My phone went off, the ringtone was the song I turned in moments before. The caller ID read Jenny so I picked it up.
"What's up Jenny?" I asked while starting the car.
"Where are you? You have a visitor."
A visitor? That's a little strange. "I was turning in my song for the contest. Who's there?"
"Kayla's here. She said she needs to talk to you, seems important." Jenny replied.
I mentally and physically face palmed myself. Everything with Kayla is going to be so awkward now. I'm so stupid. "Tell her I'll be home in a minute." I hung up the phone and took my time driving home.
What's the point? I already know what she's going to say. It's just going to be rejection and I'm going to have no way to make excuses for what I did. Why was I so stupid?

I pulled into the driveway and walked into the house to be greeted by Jenny. She simply pointed up to tell me where Kayla was, but she was wearing a smirk on her face. I narrowed my eyes at her and decided to ignore it. I mentally cursed when I thought about what Kayla was doing in my room. She could've found it, be listening to it right now.
The thought made me race up the stairs to my room. When I got there I knew my suspicions were right, she was listening to it. My song was being listened to by Kayla. Shit.
"I- I can explain." I stuttered.
She looked amused to say the least. "Go ahead, explain."
Actually, I can't explain. The song is exactly what it's saying. To make it worse the chorus went on right then and there.
"Me and you stop in time, all of the stars align, this is what it feels like, when we collide!" Kayla sang loudly.
For her to know the lyrics means she's listened to it more than once. I feel so vulnerable and defenseless. You could call me an open book right now. All my feelings were being told to her through my singing.
"I'm waiting." She said with a huge smirk.
"I actually can't explain." Heat rose to my cheeks and I could tell they were burning red.
Trying to avoid the topic I asked, "So what did you come here for?"
Her smirk dropped and her body stiffened, "About that- um.."
"I'm waiting." I mimicked her with a smirk of my own.
"Is your song about me?" She blurted out. Now we both were stiff and it just felt awkward.
What's the point in hiding it? She already knows anyways. "Yeah, it is." I said with as much confidence I could muster. Which wasn't a lot.
"So when we "collide", what does that mean?" Her smirk came back and she started walking closer to me.
My face went red again as I muttered, "It means kiss."
"So everything in that song that you wrote is about me and completely true?" She questioned. Her walk halted a foot in front of me.
