**** Author's Note -- Hey guys, I'm really sorry that this one took so long to get up.  I really do want to keep writing these but senior year is turning out to be a lot more stressful than I had thought.  Sorry again, I hope you enjoy reading! Oh, and let me know in the comments or something if you guys like the story being told from Dean's and/or (YN)'s perspective or if you prefer it in the narrator's perspective.****

-- Somewhere in the woods --

Dean and Sam stare silently at the funeral pyre for their Dad. As the fires starts to die, Sam takes a deep breath, "Before he... before he... did he say anything to you?" he asks brokenly.  Dean continues to stare at the fire, remembering his Dad leaning down and whispering something in his ear.  Something he couldn't tell Sammy. "No, nothing." he lies.

-- Two months later, at Bobby's house --

"Where is (YN) again?" Sam asks Bobby.  Dean had dragged him back to Bobby's house so that he could fix up his precious car. Sam was helping Bobby out around the house and had gone on a few hunts but Dean refused to do anything besides work on the car.  "Don't know, she said that she should be back in about two months, she went to help Lydia with a werewolf that's been terrorizing upper New York and Vermont." Bobby explains.  Sam raises an eyebrow, "Both states?" he asks.

Bobby just shrugs, "Either that or there's two of them taking turns striking in the same way." Sam nods, "I'm a little surprised that you let her hunt on her own, Bobby." Bobby turns to look at Sam with a dishrag still in his hand, "Yeah, well she's a damn good hunter and it's what she wants to do so I'd rather support her and know what's going on than try to get her to quit so that she runs off with you two knuckleheads." Bobby says as he swats Sam with the towel.  Sam blocks the towel and grins back at Bobby. "Yeah, sure. I'm gonna go check on Dean."

Sam walks out to find Dean, under the Impala still tinkering. "How's the car coming along?" Sam asks. Dean sighs and twists another bolt off, "Slow." he mutters.  Sam steps back as Dean throws a chunk of metal out from under the car. "Yeah? You need any help?" he offers.  Dean chuckles, "You? Under a hood? I'll pass." Sam shrugs, "Well, you need anything else?" Sam asks. Dean rolls out from under the car and stands up, hunting for another part, "Stop it Sam." he replies. "Stop what?" Sam asks immediately.

"Stop asking if I need anything, stop asking if I'm okay." Dean says, faintly annoyed.  "I'm okay. Really, I promise." he insists.  Sam swings his arms out but finally agrees, "Alright, Dean.  It's just we've been at Bobby's for three weeks now. You haven't brought Dad up even once." Sam points out.  Dean goes quiet, "You know what? You're right. Come here." Sam gives Dean a questioning look and Dean shrugs, "I'm going to lay my head gently on your shoulder, maybe we could cry a little, hug and hey, maybe we could even slow dance." Dean says sarcastically.

"Don't patronize me Dean." Sam mutters. Dean shrugs and turns back to looking for the part. "Dad is dead, the colt is gone and it seems pretty damn likely that the demon is behind all of this, but you're acting like nothing ever happened!" Sam exclaims, throwing his arms out to his sides in frustration again. "What do you want me to say?!" Dean demands. "Say something, all right?! Hell, say anything! Aren't you angry? Don't you want revenge?!  You just spend all day out here, buried underneath this damn car!" Sam yells.

Dean pauses, then looks at Sam again, "Revenge huh? Sounds good.  You got any idea where the demon is? You making heads or tails of Dad's research? Cause I sure ain't.  But at least when we do finally find it- oh, no. Wait, like you said, the colts gone. So maybe you've figured out another way to kill it?" Sam opens his mouth but then closes it again. "We've got nothing Sam. Okay? Nothing." Dean says quietly. "The only thing I can do, is work on the car." Dean finishes.
