Wednesday
I rush out of the high school, Mia and Madelyn in tow. The people around us were whispering.Ellie and Hannah.....
She threw first punch....
She shoved her first....
Is it even real?
We run all the way to far back of the parking lot, where a crowd of people create a circle.
We all push through the mass of people, pushing aside their limbs, and them giving us strange stares. When we make it to the center, we find Ellie on the asphalt, and Hannah standing over her. My car sits behind Elle.
"...you idiot." Hannah barks.
Mia, Madelyn, and I rush to Ellie, and pull her up.
"What the h***, Hannah!" I say, anger rolling off in waves from my body.
Hannah puts on her best innocent look. "Don't know what you mean, JoJo. Ellie fell, and I was just about to help her."
"Cut the crap Hannah." I snarl.
Hannah folds her hands, and let's them drop at her thighs. "JoJo, I don't have any crap. Ellie on the other hand does."
"Stop calling me JoJo!" I growl in a low voice, just as Ellie pipes up.
"I don't have any crap." She says.
Hannah rolls her eyes. " 'What was I supposed to do, keep it?' " Hannah says, mocking Ellie's voice, though she fails terribly. "What do you call that crap? I didn't think anyone could be stupid enough to throw a note like that in the trash. But apparently I was wrong." Hannah glowers at Elle.
"Um, may I ask what this is about?" A girl from the crowd asks.
"Shut up." Hannah orders.
"Actually, this is about a note sent to Ellie from Han-" I'm cut off as Hannah shoves me to the ground.
My palms land on the rocky parking lot, and my butt lands with a loud thud. The crowd gasps.
"You just keep your mouth shut. And, I would've thought," Hannah taps a finger against her lip. "That a softball player should know when they've lost."
I jump back up and shove her. She stumbles back against the green car behind her. She stares at me with stunned eyes. She takes a step toward me when Madelyn steps in front of me.
"Hey, there's no need for this. You both look like fools."
"Don't class me with yourselves. I hope you know, someone as popular as me shouldn't be categorized with someone like you. Oh, and btw, that outfit makes you look fat. Though mostly everything does." She says, her eyes fixed on Maddy. She then shifts her gaze to Ellie.
"I thought I told you to keep you friends in line. I can't have them disturbing my school like this. In fact, why don't you, Ellie, do us all a favor, and go disappear. That would make everyone's lives so much easier." And with that, Hannah sashays her way through the crowd, and goes to her black Subaru.
The crowd disperses, and the four of us are left standing alone.
Mia speaks first. "Well, that was definitely interesting, that's for sure."
I turn to look at her with my eyebrows raised. She shrugs. "Well, it was."
"Jocelyn! Madelyn!" Andy and Colton come running up to us.
" 'Sup?" I say.
"What the heck happened?" Andy demands.
"Jeez Andy, calm down." Madelyn says.
"How can I calm down! I just heard that a girl fight broke out!"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold up." I hold up my hand. "A girl fight? How is that different from any other fight? Or, are other fights called boy fights? Hm?"
"Oh, Jocelyn, just drop it." Mia mutters.
"Why? That's so-"
"Just tell me what happened!" Andy says, his voice rising.
"Fine." I mumble.
"We just heard that there was a crowd around Ellie and Hannah, so we followed everybody, though it wasn't hard to see the group of people. We came here, Elle was on the ground, Hannah being a b**** as always. Jocelyn got into it, Hannah shoved her to the ground, so Joce shoved her back. Madelyn intervened and Hannah left, but not before telling Ellie to go kill herself." Mia explains.
"She's such an, ah, I'm not even gonna say it." Andy states.
"Who's this?" Maddy asks, gesturing to Colton.
"Oh, this is Colton. He just moved he from Connecticut." I answer.
"Oh?" Everybody's eyebrows, but Elle's, raise suggestively. Ellie just smiles.
I shoot them all glares. "Would you all stop it?"
"Oh, Jocelyn, we didn't know you had a boyfriend!" Mia says teasingly.
"He's not my boyfriend."
"Oh, sure." Andy snorts.
"How come we never pester Mia about Jack! It's always me!" I point out.
"Whoa, why did Jack come into this?" Mia asks.
"A-ha!" I point my finger at her. "She likes him!"
Mia's face turns all red. "I'm done with this conversation. When you're done talking with your friend, come get in your car. You're driving us home."
"How lovely." I mutter.
I unlock the car for all of them, and they climb in.
I turn to Colton. "Sorry about them. They're weird."
Colton stuffs his hands in his pockets. "It's alright. They seem...fun?"
I laugh. "Oh yeah, definitely."
"Your hands okay?" He asks.
"What do you mean?" I check my hands, and find them a little scratched up, with little stones stuck to my skin. I rub them off. "Oh, yeah, I'm fine. Do you need a ride? Mia's not coming with us. She's going with her sister. We could squeeze you in."
His cheeks start taking on a shade of red. "No, my mom is going to pick me up."
I smirk. "Classy."
"Tell me about it. I'll see ya later?"
"Later? As in tomorrow later? Or later, as in, later?"
"Um...." Colton doesn't have time to answer. A silver SUV comes up and honks at us. A middle aged woman with ash blonde hair and with the same icy blue eyes as Colton, rolls down the passenger window.
"Come on Colton! I gotta pick up Amelia from daycare!" The woman yells with a gentle sterness.
"That's my mom," Colton says, more color coming to his cheeks.
"Yep, definitely classy." I mutter.
Colton laughs. "Yeah. Bye."
"Bye." He gives me a smile as he heads into the car. The lady gives me a curious look, before driving off.
I get into my car. Madelyn sits in the passenger seat, Andy behind me, and Ellie next to him. They all start laughing.
"What?" I demand.
"Prince Charming couldn't come with us?" Madelyn snickers.
I reach over and slap her arm. Maddy keeps on laughing, setting her head on the window.
"Maybe he was too scared of the girl with pink hair." Ellie suggests.
I roll my eyes at her through the mirror at the roof.
"Only the bottoms of my hair are dyed pink. And, could ya leave the subject alone?"
Ellie tries to hide a smile, but fails.
