ZENDAYA SERIES BOOK #1: The Story of Zendaya

Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman, was born on September 1, 1996 in Oakland, California. She is know simply, as Zendaya, or you can call her Daya, or Z. She is an American actress, singer, dancer, and model. Her parents, are Kazembe Ajamu Coleman and Claire Stoermer. Her name means, "to give thanks" in the language of Shona. As you now, she is the role model to many young girls!! Her idols, include Beyoncé and Michael Jackson. 

You may know her, as she stars as Raquel "Rocky" Blue, on Disney Channel's: Shake It Up! She's been acting on Shake It Up! for 3 years, already, from 2010-2013. The show, will soon end, and will not return, for a 4th season. She was also, working on a new movie, called Zapped for Disney Channel. After that movie, and the rest of the season, of Shake It Up , she will be gone from Disney. She is also signed, with Hollywood Records.  

Zendaya grew up as part of the California Shakespeare Theater in Orinda, where her mother works as the House Manager. In addition to training at the theater's student conservatory program, and later performing in numerous stage productions, Zendaya helped her mom seat patrons and sell raffle tickets to benefit the theater.

While attending the Oakland School for the Arts, she starred as Little Ti Moune (I think that was one of her first acting shows.) in Once on This Island at the Berkley Playhouse and the breakout role of the male character Joe in Caroline, or Change at Palo Alto's TheaterWorks. She also studied her craft at the CalShakes Conservatory program and at the American Conservatory Theater.

Zendaya has performed around the world, including at The White House and in the 2011 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and she tours select cities with her Z-Swagg Dancers and Singers. Zendaya was a fashion model for Macy's, Mervyns and Old Navy. She was also one of the back-up dancers in a Sears commercial with Selena Gomez.

Zendaya now lives in Los Angeles, California with her family and dog, a giant Schnauzer named Midnight.

Zendaya, was also working on "Zapped" a 2014 movie, for Disney Channel. after that, she will no longer be with Disney.
