Great parents? Check.

Mansion? Check.

Imported dresses, shoes, and bags? Check.

Luxury? Check.

Friends? That is a big cross mark to the list.

She almost had everything, except for friends.

Actually, it should be easy for her to gain friends. She came from a very influential clan. Her parents are rich and they hold high positions in the government.

But it doesn't go that way.

Her parents sent her to a public school.

"But, Dad why?" she asked in protest one time after her dad said that she will be studying in a public high school.

"It's for your own good. Starting now, you should be getting along with girls your age even if they're not like us."

She sighed deepl, then quietly retreated to her room. Who is she to disobey her father, a senator, a very respected man?

Even when she almost had everything, her social life is an empty one. She never tried playing dolls with other girls. She never tried sharing her secrets to anyone. She never had a best friend. And her crushes were only celebrities and fictional characters.

The bell rang. Students rushed towards the small canteen to buy two-peso MSG-rich snacks. While for her, she brought a grilled cheese sandwich prepared by their house cook. She's alone while eating. Some of her classmates don't eat for recess to save money, but they are busy chatting with each other. At least, they're not lonely. Not like her.

She tried to approach a group of girls. "Hi," she said to them.

"Uh. Oh. Hi too," one of them answered.

"Can I join you?"

The girls looked at each other, seems like they're talking through their faces. One of them broke the staring contest and said, "Sure."

She smiled, pulled a chair, joined the girls, and asked cheerfully, "What are you talking about?"

No one answered.

She's physically with them, but in their minds, she knew that she will never belong in this group.

She stood very slowly. "Oh... okay."

She walked away, returned to her seat, got a book, and started reading.

It'sonly two months left before summer. Maybe she could just ask her parents totransfer her to another school, where she can have friends that have the samefeathers with hers.
