Chapter 7

Excuse the mistakes

Katerina Gilbert

When love is found, unearthed, to say

It is simply there to see

But hold it in your hands and it is anew

And it is part of you to be

But when it guides you to another

One is torn, broken, lost

To be endlessly stuck in between

Under the love of two, a cold, hard frost

And you stay there forced with a choice

Making everyone confused and pressed

And with unexplainable emotions for both

And so now, as I see it... I must confess

That my heart lies in the palms of you

"Kat!" I was ripped from my poem when a familiar voice snapped in my ear. I looked up to meet the familiar brown eyes of Damon. It was then I noticed that everybody was packing up and heading out the door. Was I really that engrossed in my poetry to notice that the bell had rung?

"The bell rung! How did you not hear it?" Damon asked. Pulling my attention back to him.

"I was writing." I said innocently. He shook his head and rolled his eyes and walked away. I chuckled silently to myself and started packing my stuff together.

I headed out of that classroom and toward my locker. Luckily, Jace wasn't there so I got my stuff and headed for class.

That was how the entire day went. Me just avoiding Jace and quickly getting to class.

When I walked into the cafeteria, Damon surprised me from behind and almost made me drop my food.

"Hey. Remember, I said you were sitting with me today?" He asked while slipping in step beside me. His blonde hair was messy but still swept over his eyes.

"Yeah I remember." I said. Remembering the conversation we had the other day.

I followed him to a isolated table in the near corner with about three girls and four guys. All of which had dark hair and bright eyes. Nothing like Damon with his blonde hair and dark eyes. I felt awkward with my black hair and brown eyes.

I sat down in the empty seat beside Damon. The entire table quieted at my sudden appearence. I felt very awkward and nervous sitting with a bunch of people I didn't know. I felt eyes on me and turned my head to meet the deep, dark, blue eyes of Jace intently at me. His gaze switched to the blonde sitting beside me.

A unknown voice pulled me out of my thoughts and into the present.

"So, who are you?" A tall and slim brunette asked me.

"This is Kat. She's new here and I've decided she will be my friend." Damon proclaimed. I lightly chuckled when he said 'I have decided'

"Kat," he continued. "This is Lacey." He pointed to a slim girl with short brown hair and caramel highlight. Her eyes a blue-green color that made he few freckles stand out. She looked pretty in a nerdy-ish sort of way. But I knew she wasn't a nerd.

He continued to introduce me to the rest of the group.

There was Vanessa. She had long black hair and blue eyes. Her pale skin fit her.

Then there was Zander. He had brown hair that looked to be dyed with blonde highlights. He seemed to be the only one with very light hazel eyes- almost yellow.

There was Leigh. She had short brown hair and and a freckle here and there. She was also Zander's girlfriend.

There was also Jake. He had short black hair and blue eyes. Now that I looked a little closer, him and Vanessa looked a lot alike. I pegged Jake as Vanessa's little brother.

Cassie had long brown hair with light blonde highlights. She wore glasses and seemed to be a sophomore.

Last was Ethan. His hair was cropped short with a tinge of tan. He was Vanessa's boyfriend and a senior.

After Damon introduced m to every one, we all just chatted about our lives. I didn't give much information about myself. Only that I just moved here with my mom and I'm a junior.

After lunch, we parted ways to our fifth period class. The rest of the day went by fast. I didn't see anyone else I knew. By the time school ended, I was reading for my first day of work at the Edward Household. Damon gave me directions before I started heading home so I would know which way to go.

When I got home, I said hi to my mom when I saw that she was sitting at the kitchen table, reading the newspaper. After that, I hoped into the shower and washed off all the sweat, grime, and extra makeup off me. I dried myself off and the headed to work.

I hope this will be okay.

A/N: I hope you guys like it. I won't be able to write for a while and I wanted to update.

The poem at the beginning of this chapter, like all upcoming poems, are written by my best friend. That's why I'm dedicating this chapter to her and all the help she has given me so far.
