Tessa was late. She was late to one of the most important interviews of her life. Driving, like a maniac, she swerved past the countless cars with drivers cussing behind her. Tessa was late to an interview that would change her life and she didn't even know it, if she had known, she wouldn't be late and this story would have not been written.
Yes, I am repeating myself, I want you to know how important Tessa being late was. She scrambled up the front steps of WGF the biggest bank in all of London, England and second in the whole world. The black glass indicating just how the famous CEO Theo Matthews was, and just thinking about how screwed she truly was made a cold shock travel down her spine. Walking in 4 inch heels and a pencil skirt that she wore at her university graduation two years ago, Tessa sprint- walked to the front desk gasping for air and trying to make coherent words come out of her mouth."I....here...for..interveiw..."
The receptionist looked at her with a look of pity. It made Tessa uneasy and even more nervous, which she thought was a level of nerves she couldn't ever reach. She was wrong.
"Are you Tessa Mitchell?"
Tessa nodded, afraid that if she spoke one more time she would get stared down by all of the employees of WGF bank. She didn't like scenes, drama or anything related to eyes focused on her. She really was in for a shock.
"You're late. Normally we wouldn't allow you to take an interview with the CEO, however he just had a meeting cancelled so you must be full of luck today."
Tessa didn't feel lucky, she almost missed her interview, her cat died last night and her Netflix payment failed when she tried to watch some sad movies in honour of Mr. Snuggles. Don't judge Tessa she has nothing else to lose and in just a few seconds, her world would change, in a flicker, in a blink. I can here you screaming through your electronic device saying 'just get on with it already!'.
"You're late."
The voice coming from behind the leather black chair. Theo Matthew's office wasn't what she expected, actually the whole building wasn't as intimidating as the black glass outside. The interior was consistent throughout the whole building. Yes, the floor was black but the white and cream specs evened the darkness out. The wood of the furniture was made of Red Oak and looked amazing with the glass counter tops and tables that they had. WGF in bold blue letters behind the reception desk, clear so everyone could see. Underneath the words read 'The World's Government Facilitated Bank'.
"I know I am so sorr-Immediately after she started her speech Theo turned around in his seat and Ms. Mitchell couldn't finish her sentence. It felt like a good forty seconds before anyone spoke. Neither of them minded the silence as both observed the other. Tessa observed how the curls on his head fell down and bounced back into place when Theo turned around, how he brushed his hair back with his hand, off his pale smooth-looking skin. Theo observed how Tessa's silk-like hair ran down, how she kept biting her lip over and over- a sign of nervousness Theo had seen way too many times. Normally Mr. Matthews would get angry at how potential employees showed their nerves but he didn't mind this young woman in front him doing so, and that fact alone got him riled up very quickly.
"Next time don't be."
Both parties were shocked at his response. Tessa couldn't stop thinking about how he said next time and it calmed her down, it reassured her that there would be a next time and she stopped biting her lip. Tessa didn't pick up on the harsh tone that he had. Theo noticed what he had said and didn't correct himself, hoping that she would stop biting that godforsaken lip and that he could concentrate on the interview.
"Sit."
