I finish tying up my newly-dyed hair and my phone rings. I pick it up. "Hello?" I say, slipping my Chucks on. "Hi Virginia? I'm outside, ready to head out?" I nod. "Yeah. I'll be out in a second." He hangs up and I fix my dress. I walk out and open his car door. I buckle up my seat belt, turning to him. We're on our way to a barbecue that Jake's friend is holding. He starts the ignition and we start on our way. When we arrive, everyone's already there. I get out and we walk in. "Virginia! Luke! You made it!" Jake screams as we walk in. I smile at him and hug his torso. "You do realize that you bothered me all morning to come and you seriously say that you're surprised I'm here?" I point. He rolls his eyes and bro hugs Luke. I walk over to Selena. "Hey Sel!" She smiles and hands me a drink. "Hi Virginia! This is my cousin Madi!" I grasp and my eyes open wide. "Madi Carson?" She looks up at me and gasps. "Virginia!" She opens her arms and I run into them. "Madi! How did you get here?" She shrugs. "Selena booked me a flight. As soon as she called me and said that you two were at the same dance camp I like literally fangirled over you. I'm so proud of you! How's everything with Luke?" We walk over to a big couch and take a seat. "Well, yesterday we had our first heart to heart which wasn't bad, but now I feel so awkward because he's so cute and stuff and I just... Ugh!" I ramble, running my hands multiple times through my hair. She looks at me. "Girl, you need to give him a chance. He's trying to come to a comprise with you and you keep pushing him away. Just get to at least speaking terms with him." I nod and we keep talking to pass the time. Finally, after hours of eating, drinking, and talking, it's time to dance. We all walk outside and start to dance as music blasts through the speakers. Madi and I dance around, spinning and dancing. Can't Get Enough by Becky G plays and someone grabs my hand. I wave to Madi and look up. "Hi Luke." I greet. He smiles. "Hi Virginia." He starts to spin me around and I laugh. "Luke, are you drunk?" He shakes his head and dips me. "Nope. Not this time at least." I laugh again and continue to dance with him. We begin to do random moves and I giggle. "Luke, you look like a dying cat." He puts his hand over his heart in mock-hurt and I just smirk. He laughs and takes me away from the grass. We both lay on the porch, staring up at the stars. "Virginia, you were pretty before and now." He admits, sheepishly. I smile up at him and wriggle in his touch. "Whatever." I mutter. He just rolls his eyes. "You are, and I'm stupid for never seeing that." It was either his face or his adorable speech that made me do it. That's right. I kissed him. Right on the lips. His eyes stayed open wide and I pulled away immediately. I scramble to get up and run. He catches me and pulls me back, my lips falling right on his. I was shocked at first but then complied, gently lying my lips to his. He smiled and started to deepen the kiss. The more we got into it, the more in love I fell with him. But of course, Jake has to be a dick and ruin it all. "Ahem." I remove myself from my 'sitting on Luke's lap' position and sit beside him. "So, we dating?" He asks. I smirk up at him. "Nope." I pop the 'p' and walk off. His jaw hangs open and I laugh. I'm still playing hard to get. This bitch hurt me.
