A/N: So, I was only supposed to update distance between us today but the weather is horrid and I'm vibing out to Journals so I decided to get this out.-------------
Music greeted us before we even turned onto the block. That was already a bad sign. Cars were parked on either side of the streets accordingly. Surprisingly no one parked in front of anyone's drive way. Then again, Dwayne wasn't stupid. At all. He made everyone act accordingly. Justin stopped the car a few house down, his eyes no longer focused on the road but the lawn from and the structure that stretched out beyond. Licking his lips and shut off the engine and removed the keys from the car. Knowing Justin was going to argue with me if I even touched the door, I waited patiently for him to close his door and jog around to my side to open the door for me. I muttered a small thanks and stepped out, receiving more looks than I would have liked in the process. It was normal to pull up to a scene and have people stare at whomever who got out of a vehicle I suppose. After he let me out and closed the door behind me, he popped open the trunk and grabbed his most prized possession, his guitar.
Justin locked the car door and we walked up along the length of the side walk, our arms brushing against each other a few times before we greeted the pathway of the house.
This gave me plenty of time to check out his appearance. His growing hair was slicked back into a spiff. His ears held a larger earring than they usually did and it glistened in the crisp dark. A green plaid shirt was thrown over a white scoop neck and it was paired with black denims that fit him snug. Although they fit him snug with or without a belt he allowed them to slouch below his waist. He pulled them up a few times with one hand since the other occupied his guitar strap and it seemed as if the routine was once a hassle. To top off his outfit he wore a pair of white slip on Vans and a bracelet rested on his right wrist as well as a small chain around his neck. A few people greeted Justin in the process and he gave dry responses as if his mind was elsewhere. Although he had a genuine smile on his face with each hand shake he provided, something was off or at least it appeared to be.
Walking through the front door, Justin placed his hand on my lower back lightly.
"Do you want me to get you something to drink?" He whispered into my ear. I furrowed my eyebrows at him. Was that a trick question to throw me off? Was he offering me a drink or a drink drink?
"But you said-" I started before he tightened his jaw and sighed, his eyes taking in surroundings.
"I meant like a Sprite or something." He coughed his voice filled with an emotion I couldn't quite make out and I simply chewed the inside of my cheek.
