The War had just broken out under the dictatorship of Aldof Hitler. Quintin was looking out of his window watching as German troops plastered Nazi posters, and chanting "Glory To Deutsch ! Wir werden den Krieg gewinnen" Which meant that they were proud of their country.
Quintin knew that all of his friends were joining the war but, he didn't know if he wanted to. He was fifteen now but you had to be eighteen to join. He wanted to join but knew his grand mama wouldn't let him. But, this all changed when his grandma succumbed to a fatal heart attack he had lost his mother the year before and his father left him when he was ten. He was an only child, so he had no brothers or sisters to play with. He had nothing, Nothing but a small farm house with three chickens living in the rafters.
So he did it, when the soldiers came to see if anyone wanted to join he said in a loud proud voice "Yes."
