Silence is awkward, it always has been. Time seems to slow by when it's silent and you can physically count and feel every single second passing by. It's not a joyful experience especially when all you want to do is fill the silence, but sometimes there isn't any way to do just that. An argument on the brink lurked in the air waiting to take its toll. Everyone in the car knew it was coming so when it finally came, it wasn't much of a shock, just something else to fill the silence.

Words without meaning were shouted at each other, people talking in the moment, not actually meaning what they say but only saying them to get a reaction and annoy the other person. The funny thing about driving is that it requires concentration on the road at all time, you have to be consciously aware of cars, trees, signs and everything else that you may accidentally drive into, and that's exactly where Megan went wrong. Taking her eyes off the road for 0.2 seconds to shout something at Rosie, she collided with something that she hadn't even acknowledged before turning around, another car.

The sounds of metal on metal, tyres screeching, people screaming, a cacophony of sounds all merging into one loud noise and then.... Silence, again. Both cars completely demolished due to one spilt second mistake, one mistake which will change lives forever. And not necessarily for the best.

Seconds passed by, or was it minutes? Who could tell anymore? Time had become the most precious thing in the world for it was the difference between everyone making it through the gloomy night, and someone dying...
