The annoying alarm blared right next to my ears, causing me to begin my day with a string of curses. So not the way I planned to start my first day at college. Well, guess I had to get used to the alarm and its deafening tune. This thought caused my eyes to water as I remembered the annoying way my mom would wake me up when I was still her "little tiny baby" in high school. She would switch on the TV in my room and find my favorite music channel. Putting on the maximum volume, she would start belting out the lyrics so off tune that I would have to wake up, just so that she stops. Oh, how I missed her crazy singing now.Okay, time to back up folks. Let me begin the introductions. I am Kiara Lively. A freshman in college majoring in Aerospace Engineering, with average looks (well that's not what my best friends said but whatever) and a G.P.A good enough to get me 100% scholarship at an Ivy League college which was my top choice. Okay, yes I am smart and yes I am modest about it too. I always focused on studies and never even got time to date anyone. Which, by the way, my mum never misses a chance to mock me for. Sue me, if I like to read romantic books rather than have an actual romantic life.
I live on campus, and had the fortunate luck of getting a really nice and super sweet roommate. Her name is Jasmine Night, and for some odd reason her name really fascinates me. She is a Science major, which made me conclude that she is super smart too even if she denies it. "Kii Koo, get up you sleeping beauty". Ahh speak of the devil. I clumsily get off the bed, almost tripping over my blanket and extra pillows. The struggle to reach the living room of our apartment was so real. I had a terrible night and it was the reason I was grumpy. Mumbling to myself about how the world should not begin their day before 10am, I reached the living room. I guess Jasmine saw the tired look on my face, because her first comment was "You look like shit". Geez lady, tone down the compliments.
"Well yeah, you try functioning on a two-hour sleep and then we will talk", was my smartest reply. Yeah I could be lame and bitchy in the morning. She ignored me and went to her room to get ready, but not before gesturing the coffee table where my morning tea was ready for me. The scene reminded me how lucky I was to get Jazz as a roommate. She had already become my best friend and it has just been a week since we met on the first day of orientation.
I smiled as I remembered how awkward our first meeting was. I was dragging my exceptionally large box to my room, while I tripped over my own feet and faceplant the floor. If you haven't guessed already, I am a klutz. Anyway, Jasmine was there to witness my skills of tripping over anything, and she laughed her ass off before helping me. That moment we knew it was the start of our friendship.
And now here we are, she already knows my habits, likes and dislikes. I am more of a tea person, and even though she couldn't fathom the fact that I hated coffee, she got over her shock pretty quickly. She did pass a comment saying "I am so judging you for this" but who cares.
We quickly got dressed and rushed out of our house for our first class together: General Chemistry at 8-freaking-Am. Someone shoot me now, come on! I will even pay you for it. I may be majoring in Aerospace, but chemistry so wasn't my thing. I always somehow ended up setting fire in the lab. Grimacing at the thought, I tried being positive about the class. We both knew the campus moderately well, but seeing as it had just been a week, we were obviously lost.
Spotting the students' parking lot, I grabbed Jazz's hand and pulled her in that direction. She started screaming "Calm your crazy pedophile feelings Koo. I don't swing that way". Getting frustrated with the nickname, I glared at her and said "First of all, Koo? Really? It sounds like Poo and that's just sick". She starting laughing and didn't even bother to hear what I was going to say next. Oh well!
We finally reached the parking lot, and since I knew our chemistry class was in the building opposite the lot, it was now a piece of cake to reach on time. But there was only one problem. The parking lot was crowded with students and I could not understand why. They all gathered near the entrance and waited for something. Curiosity got the better of us, and we stopped to see what the commotion was about.
I heard some girls whispering and couldn't help but over hear. "I heard Nate's sister is back and she is going to make an entrance with him". The other girl gasped and a shocked look crossed her face as if someone revealed the spoilers of the latest Game of Thrones episode. "OMG, is she pregnant?" was her instant reply and I snorted at her tiny judgmental thoughts. Sadly, she heard me and gave me looks that would scare the Hulk. Luckily, I could care less and instead focused on the now 5 empty parking spots everyone was staring at.
Who the hell is everyone waiting for, was my thought when suddenly everyone went deathly still. It looked like no one was breathing and that just creeped me out. I turned to voice my opinions to Jazz when I saw her staring open mouthed at the scene in front of her. I followed her gaze and saw the latest, most gorgeous Lamborghini heading towards the parking lot. Five to be exact. Just as I was about to ask who those cars belonged to, some girl suddenly screamed "THE LEGENDS ARE HERE".
Her words created chaos and people started screaming like crazy. Though, the only thought circling my mind was "Who are The Legends and also why the hell did I skip breakfast this morning?"
