"You're crazy." Mackenzie said slamming her locker shut.
"I am not. I just don't see why we can't go to a senior party while we're juniors?! Who even made that rule up?" I threw my hands in the air and my bag fell down my arm, causing me to lose balance.
"Lucy, do you even hear yourself at this exact moment? You're suggesting we crash Chelsea McSluts SENIOR party?!" She crossed her arms.
"Look, it's just for a drink or two, then we can leave if you're not having fun. Promise." I put my pinky out.
"No. I'm not risking MY LIFE just so you can have a bit of fun. Just come over to my house tonight? We can sneak drinks into the basement or something."
"Mackenzie, that's so old news! Just take a risk for once!" I said pulled on her sweater and flashing the best puppy dog eyes I could.
Mackenzie and I had been friends since grade 3 when she moved her from New York to here, Toronto, ON. Her family moved 'for the sake of moving,' is what she'd always tell me. It was a sensitive subject. Speaking of subjects, my next one is Gym.
"Gotta blast. Mrs. Sofferman doesn't like when I'm late to gym." I raised my eyebrows.
"Well, Mr. Buxton is already angry with me for not handing in my assignment last week." She rolled her eyes. We exchanged hugs and headed in opposite directions to get to our classes.

It was cold outside. The weather was so off lately. It was the middle of May and it felt like it was October.
We ran 5 laps and Mrs. Sofferman made our teams for soccer. Gym class was a mix of both boys and girls, so when she made the teams 'boys vs. girls' we already knew we weren't winning.
I don't like gym very much so I'd rather not talk about how I was shoved into a mud puddle.

I arrived home no later than 5 minutes than I usually do. But still, my father began barking at me.
"What took you so long to get home? You should've been here earlier!" My father started to raise his voice and my mother rubbed his chest.
"Calm down, Stew. Let her explain. It is only 5 minutes."
"Yeah. I was driving Mackenzie home."
"What? The girl couldn't've walked?!" He began to get angry again. I never understood why he got angry so easily all the time.
"Stewart. Enough. It's only 5 minutes after her usually time. Leave her be." My mother gave a half-hearted smile and motioned for me to head upstairs.
I went up to my room and immediately rang Mackenzie.
Ring. Ring. Ring.
"Hello?"
"Hey, it's Lucy."
"Yo." She laughed.
"Yo," I laughed also, "want to go shopping?"
"Sure, why not." She giggled. I could picture her shrugging and giggling. She was so silly all the time. It was funny.
"I'll be there at 5-ish?" I started laughing and could hear her begin to too.
What Mackenzie thought we were doing, was going shopping. What we were actually doing, going to that party. She'd know something was up once she saw how dressed up I was, but we'd deal with that when the moment comes.
"Dress nice. We'll probably end up running into boys." I winked even though she couldn't see me.
"When do I ever dress bad?" Good point.
"I have to go for dinner. Bye." I laughed.
"Okay bye girl." She laughed and hung up.
I went down for dinner and tried to eat as fast as I could. I had to hop into the shower pretty sure if I didn't want to miss that party.
"Slow down, sweetheart. We don't need you choking again." My mother shook her head.
"That was one time and I was 6." I rolled my eyes.
"Hey! Don't be rolling your eyes at your mother."
"Stew, it's fine." My mother took a sip of her water.
There was a bit of silence before I finally said:
"I'm going shopping with Mackenzie after dinner. And I'll be spending the night again." I put my dish in the sink.
"Alright. That's fine." My mother smiled. I gave her a quick kiss and headed upstairs. I could feel my fathers eyes burning the back of my head. I feel like her doesn't like me. Ha.
I hoped in the shower and then did my make up and got dressed. I went for a more smokey eye, I wanted to appear older. I also put on the most revealing dress I could find in the closet. It was a tight, black, long sleeved dress. It cut low in at my chest. My boobs looked great. I chuckled to myself as I danced around in my mirror.
I felt I was dressed too formally when I got into my car. I started driving to Mackenzie's house. I arrived after about 10 minutes and rang the doorbell.
"Hey- BYE MOM AND DAD! LOVE YOU. Okay, let's go." She was panting from yelling so loud.
Once she got in the car, she eyes me up and down.
"You're a little dressed up for the mall." She furrowed her perfectly shaped eyebrows.
I just kind of gave her a look at she got it right away.
"Oh lord."
