What a great day it was. The sun was shining over the lakes and cast a warm glow on the buildings. All was well in the eyes of Jace until he looked up. He lifted his head as he strode towards the church, and what a horrible day it would become. Because sprawled across the streets were over a thousand newcomers.

He was passed a fair number of dirty looks as he pushed through the crowd. Every face was covered in dirt and ash, fear resting in their eyes.

Suddenly, out of the corner of his vision, Jace sees a girl running his way. Finally reaching him, the girl looked up to his face. "S'cuse me." She said with tears welling in her eyes, "have you seen my brother anywhere?" Jace could only stare at the little one, unsure of what to do. "He's big and tall," she continued, "and he told me to wait right at the church 'til he came back 'round." But why would someone just leave her around strangers? "That was last night," she concluded. Crap. Where was this dude? Think fast Jace, what do I do?

Small talk, how about that? I tried but then the crying started. "Shh, don't cry," I said quickly. People were starting to look. "VI!" The girl immediately stopped crying when a guy with brown hair burst through the crowd. It only took a moment for me to realize that he was bleeding profusely from an array of wounds spread unevenly across his entire body.

Soon I was face to face with him. "What did you do to my sister?!" He spat as he spoke. "I-I- ummm," what was I supposed to say? "You better start talking quick," he snarled. "I've had a hell of a night." Oh wait, I almost forgot. "GUARDS!" Instantly he's apprehended and shoved to the ground. "Tommy!" The little girl was crying again.
