Laura frowned at her phone, skipping from one song to another quickly. She just couldn't decide on one song to play. "Ugh," Her frown intensified as she bumped into someone.
Saturday and Sunday were two days known to most of the teenagers as fun and exciting, but the same could not be said for Laura. She worked at LockWood Inn from eleven in the morning till eight at night on weekends.
The Marano family wasn't lacking money or anything, but Laura wanted to earn her own income. She didn't want to depend on her family.
"I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" Two hands grabbed hers. "Yeah, I'm fine."
It was Ross. No, wait, it wasn't!
"Hi there, pretty lady! I'm Riker." The guy spoke. "Oh." Laura gave him a confused smile.
"Um, I have to go," Laura side stepped him and went into the Inn. "Shit, I'm late again. Maria is going to kill me."
Then, she bumped into someone again. "I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" The person asked.
"Uh," She grunted and looked up. This guy too, like Ross and that guy- Riker, had hazel eyes, was tall and blond. She started to move faster.
Again, she ran into someone. Come on! It was a girl this time. She had long golden hair and she had a resemblance to Ross, Riker and the guy she just bumped into.
"OMG, so sorry!" The girl squealed. "By the way, I'm Rydel! Who are you? Wait- 'Who are you?' doesn't seem the right question. It should be- wait I'm babbling, right?" the girl laughed nervously, twirling her hair.
"You know what? I'm not always like this. Well, I kind of am. Oh gosh, I'm just SO NERVOUS!" the girl exclaimed.
"Hey, hey, calm down." Laura gave her a small smile, not irritated. "Yeah, calm down." The guy with brown hair who had bumped into Laura earlier ruffled the girl's hair.
"Rocky, stop it!" She screeched which only made the guy –Rocky- smile wider. "Oh, where are my manners?"
"You don't have any," Rocky muttered and the girl stomped her foot on his. Laura tried to suppress her grin as Rocky's face morphed into a pained expression.
"So, my name is Rydel and I'm really not proud to be related to this dumbass," She pointed her finger at Rocky, who only stuck his tongue out at Rydel.
"Um, I'm getting late." Laura excused herself, only to be pulled back by Rydel. "You work here?"
"Yeah." Laura said."OMG, you're the person I was looking for! Can I talk to you?" Rydel said in a rush. Rocky rolled his eyes. "Um," Laura gestured her to walk beside me.
Rydel and Laura started walking, and Rocky followed. "So, my brother has just returned from Colorado, and well Rocky, Riker and I came back from New York. Even Ryland is here, mom and dad are too.
We've decided to plan a small party. We can't do it at home." Laura stopped in front of the door that led her to Tina's quarters.
"I don't think I'd be much of a help- I'm just a normal waitress. But here's Tina's room, she can assist you." Laura faced them.
Rocky looked bored and Rydel smiled at her. "Thank you so much! But, Tina's good, right? I mean, mom and dad don't know about this and I just want it to be perfect. I just love them a lot."
"It'll be alright," Laura said in a soothing voice. She was jealous that by the way Rydel loved her parents. By the way she was talking; it seemed that they loved her too.
Laura wanted to love her parents too. But she just couldn't. Not when they acted like the way they did.
"Thanks, again." Rydel knocked on Tina's door. After a few seconds, Rocky kicked open the door with his foot. Rydel shrugged and followed him inside. Laura went in too.
The room wasn't that big. There was a huge window and a bookshelf with books spilling out; some of the books were spread all over the floor too.
"Oh! Good morning!" Tina greeted them all. "Morning!" Rydel and Laura wished her back too and Rocky just gave a short nod.
"So, what brings you all here?" Tina looked at Laura while raising her eyebrows and looking down to the stack of papers on her table.
"So, uh, I'm Rydel and this is my brother- Rocky," Rydel started, "We wanted to talk to you about holding a small get together here, in LockWood Inn."
"We're not many people- just family. Oh, and Rat," Rocky counted using his fingers. "That'll be, uh, eight I guess."
"Wait, what about Alex, Sav and Court?" Rydel asked Rocky. "Well, yeah," Rocky scratched his head.
"Um, guys," Tina waved her arms to get their attention, "You guys decide all of that later on. I'll give you the form; you can take it home to fill it up. But wait, when are you guys planning to do this? I mean, can you give me a specific date?"
"Uhh," Rocky frowned. "I don't think we should keep it this week, I have to practice hockey to get back on the team. Also, Alex won't be here until next week," Rocky bit his lip.
After seeing Rydel smirking, he quickly added, "And Courtney and Sav, too. I mean, you know," Rocky's cheeks turned a light shade of pink.
"Yeah, yeah," Rydel snickered. "Well, I think Saturday or Sunday will be good." She looked at Rocky for agreement, and he nodded.
The small blush that had appeared on his cheeks a few moments ago had vanished.
"Guys, I'm on leave from Friday. Also, I'm going to be very busy this week, I've got a lot of work to do." Tina smiled apologetically.
"Aren't there other people who can help us?" Rydel looked a little bumped as she asked Tina. "Well," Tina looked in Laura's direction. "There's always Laura."
Rydel brightened up at Laura's name. "That's great!" She chirped, and even Rocky smiled a little. "I'm really sorry, but I'm going to have to ask you to leave now." Tina checked her watch.
"Thanks for the help!" Rydel and Rocky left the room, leaving Laura and Tina alone. Tina winked at Laura and said, "Don't worry, Laur. You'll have fun. And hey, you can day a half day, to you know, get to know them?"
Laura grumbled and left the room, telling Rydel and Rocky (who were waiting outside) that she would meet them afterwards.
After exchanging numbers, Rocky and Rydel said goodbye and Laura got to work.
Oh yeah, she was about to have fun.
