three: neighbors

"So where do you live?" I asked Ethan as we're about to go home. He told me his address and surprising I live there too.

"What? I live there too!" I said smiling.

"Is it okay if we walk home together?" He asked.

"Sure." I said as we walked out of the door.

"You moved last week right?" I asked as we were walking home.

"Yeah."

"My mom said there were new neighbors, and they have a son about my age, but I wasn't interested on knowing who he was-"

"But now you're talking with him while you two are walking home."

"Exactly!" I laughed.

We kept on talking until we reached our neighborhood.

"So, where's your house?" I asked.

"That one over there with the blue roof." He said pointing the second house from mine.

"Mine's this one." I said as we reach my house.

"Oh... uhm can I ask you something?"

"Uhm... yeah? What is it?"

"Can I have your...uhh... n-number?"
He stutters as he begins to sweat.

I never gave a guy my number before,  so this is kind of new to me.

"Yeah. Sure." I said as he gave me his phone so I can type in my number.

"I'll text you." he said as he walked to him house.

I simply nodded my head, and waved goodbye.

You just gave your number to a guy that you said was "annoying". Wow Blaine, just... Wow.

I went inside and saw my parents smiling at me like creeps.

"Uhm... What's going on?" I asked.

"You're friends with the new neighbors eh?" My Dad said.

"Yeah, I guess?"

"Making new friends isn't a bad thing you know. Friends are there to make you happy. Being happy won't hurt, that's why it takes less muscle to smile than to frown. Everyone needs happiness, and I'm happy that you are." Dad said.

"Thanks dad." I hugged him and ran upstairs.

I laid on my bed thinking of what dad said.

Being happy won't hurt.
