The Ruins: Toriel's House: 20 minutes laterThe three were already seated, waiting patiently for the fourth to arrive. The soft buttermilk color dinning set blended nicely with Toriel's decor, and the country design of the set allowed a comfortable, relaxed dining atmosphere with the four chairs.
The table was set, and the food and drinks were already distributed. Each plate steamed with a health portion of snail casserole, and the side helpings of potatoes. Papyrus had a tall glass of milk next to his plate, and Frisk had a cup of chocolate milk next to hers. Toriel didn't settle or anything special, she just had a nice cup of tea with honey.
Sans finally entered the room, feeling like a wet rag. He looked more disheveled than usual. His hoodie was unkempt , his white undershirt shirt was covered in wrinkles, his shorts were bedraggled, his socks were put on more slipshod than normal, darker bags carved themselves under his eye sockets, he looked sickly, but yet still tried to keep himself together
"Sans, your finally here!" Papyrus shouted sitting at the table, looking away from his plate of food and focused his eye sockets on his brother.
"S-sup...', bro." The smaller skeleton said weakly.
"The queen and I have been anticipating your arrival!" His younger brother called sternly.
"I jus' got....caught up in s...somethin', nothin' to worry 'bout." Sans yawned.
"The queen has prepared a very special meal for us." Papyrus motions to Toriel who was situated in the chair next to Frisk, "And we will not start until everyone is present, but if you were here five minutes ago, you could have helped set the table!"
"Sorry, bro. I was jus' comin' up with some good knock-knock jokes....for my pun-llection." Sans tried and Toriel found herself trying to smile, but she couldn't.
"Unbelievable!" Papyrus exclaimed and rubbed his temples in a familiar frustration, "Anything to avoid work!"
"Ya' know me too well, Pap." Sans lightly nudged his brother, but what he said could not be further from the truth.
"Your ok!" Frisk smiled looking behind Papyrus noticing Sans.
"Sorry....buddy, it was just a j-joke didn't mean to scare ya'." Sans took the seat next to his brother across from Frisk.
The child's eyes still seemed to gleam with worry, "So your not really hurt?"
"Nah... Jus' a harmless pr-prank." Sans claimed, quiet content with his lie.
The taller skeleton looked down at Sans, "Brother, I thought we agreed on you not prancing the human anymore!"
"Cut me some slack, Pap. It's the first time I've seen the kid in a long time." Sans shrugged looking at his brother trying to show contentment.
Papyrus's stare hardened, "But brother you looked like you were in a bit of pain, it was very concerning."
"Actin'." The smaller skeleton displayed jazz hands and a great actor he was, maybe to good for his own good. Lying was his best kind of acting. Smiling through the pain.
The younger skeleton's face went red as a tomato as he stomped his foot under the table, which was an obvious sign that he was done with his brother'a antics.
Frisk chuckled at the comedic scene looking up at their caretaker expecting them to do the same, but Toriel's face didn't even show signs of any such amusement.
