Good Morning World

BEEP BEEP BEEEEP!!! My alarm clock screamed at the top of its lungs. But I wasn't ready to get up. I threw my pillow at it trying to hit the snooze button but there was no shutting it up. And to add to my troubles my alarm clock was halfway across the room so by the time I reached it, I couldn't go back to sleep.

"I curse thee sir alarm and all who ever had the thought of making thee, To a thousand sleepless nights, and... and a hobo to rip off your insides!" I screamed putting my hands up in the air as if summoning the mythical gods of ancient Egypt.

My roommate and best friend Eliza Danielles did the same thing last year when it woke her from a dream about Rowan Atkinson and Patrick star making out. She got so angry she screamed that at the top of her lungs. From that day on, she never heard the alarm clock, and our old chemistry teacher Mr. wood who was 83 at the time, almost got mugged by a hobo a few days later... it was weird. So I was kinda hoping to get the same reaction.

Speaking Of Liza... she was still asleep. I'm not kidding; she once slept through a fire drill.

I shook her leg, "wake up!" I yelled but she just slapped my hand and turned around.

Liza was my best friend in Merkel's School for the Talented. We were automatically friends since we were the only two Americans at that school. It is a private school located in a small town right next to Manchester, England.

I got in after my father moved to England for work. He just kind of put me here and left. And by 'put me here and left.' He literally said "happy birthday hun! Stuffed a piece of cake down my throat, shoved me in a Limo and kicked me out three minutes later into the school. It all happened so fast I didn't even have enough time to tell him my birthday didn't come for another seven months.

I haven't seen him in two years, but I'm a sixteen year-old girl, not seeing my dad is a blessing. All of the sudden, I felt a pillow hit my head. Hard. "Hey!" I whined throwing a pained look at Liza who was awake now and being crabby, "Mornin' honey buns." She said seductively, purring like cat woman.

"Please don't do that so freely, you make me wonder about you." I told her standing up to get my clothes out of the closet. I try to dress comfortably, with my style of course. But a nice fitted red shirt and light blue jeans would be the outfit for the day, enough to make people see me, but not notice me. I try not to stand out more than I probably do with my chocolate colored skin and long black hair, not to forget my American accent.  Our school has around 500 people and about 15% of them are of colored skin. Meaning, Asians, Blacks, Spanish, Indian, and everything in between. There are not too many black people, and only two Americans.

I know what you're probably thinking, is Liza lesbo? Well first of all we are talking about me, not Liza, so shut up, and secondly,No, she is the exact opposite. She is the most boy crazy of all my friends, she eats, drinks and breathes boys. what? Get your head out of the gutter... gosh.

"Are you practicing for Mrs. Borromeo's play?" I asked. She nodded. Mrs. Borromeo was our drama teacher and she was doing a play about a crazy woman who had an imaginary lover. Some say the play is based of Mrs. Borromeo and the school has been trying to convince us it's not.

But as far as I see it, Mrs. Borromeo is 52 and has never been married. Not to forget that she is super clingy and calls herself MISSUS instead of Miss. "Yo, Ray-Ray?! After you're done in the bathroom you gotta help me with this scene!" Liza yelled in her high-pitched voice. And I guess I can't blame her for asking for help, since she is an actress. But a person should have limits huh?

I was already done getting dressed but I had to have my hair lush enough. It's the one thing that I've spend my whole life taking care of. And when I was finished freshening up I stared at my reflection in the mirror. I thought about what I planned to do at school and honestly I love going to me school. Don't believe me? Oh well.

I walked out of my dormitory and towards the bigger building alone today. Liza was still getting ready. The building looked like any other school, just bigger. The campus was filled with different plants and trees and it had this sort of easy going feel to it. My friend Ella and her boyfriend Jake came up to me.

Ella was super excited and Jake was just following her around, looking lost. Ella had blond hair and blue eyes and she was known for talking. She was super duper girlie and we all loved her even though she could be really annoying sometimes. "Oh  my  gosh, you wouldn't believe what I just found out!" she screamed jumping up and down. Jake just took out his phone and with one hand around Ella's shoulder he began to check his messages.

"What?" I asked, not really in the mood for one of her stories.

"I'm playing Julia in the play!" she squealed.

Julia was the crazy person's best friend. What was the point of this play?!.If you ask me, I don't know. The plot had like zero sense and there were always hints of infactuation. Ewww.

"That's ace!" I said trying to sound happy for her. But the truth is I didn't give a flying turkey about this play.

"And that's not the best part!" she said giggling like a school girl. Well she was a school girl. "You're playing Ann's understudy! Isn't that great!" she squealed tugging Jake's hand. He looked up and then went back to his phone.

"Who in blooming hell gave me that role?!" I yelled. Ella stopped jumping up and down.

"You Americans sure have a funny way of reacting to good news." She said clearly confused.

"Elle, do you remember why I came to this school in the first place?" I asked slightly annoyed.

"Oh. That's an easy one, because after your mother died your father needed some peace and quiet so he sent you to a private school as soon as you turned fourteen."

I shook my head. "No, why I got into THIS school?" I asked trying to stay calm.

"Oh. You came to this school because you could sing." She said smiling.

"Yes Ella. I came here to sing." I said, "Not to be in a stupid play about crazy women!"

Ella looked hurt. I don't know what came over me. "I'm sorry. It's just that I have too much to do and it's getting to me. And this stupid play Liza got me to sign up for is only going to make it worst."

"It's okay. Jake and I have to go anyway. Bye," she chimed and walked away pulling poor Jake behind her. I sighed. "That girl..." I started to say before someone tapped my shoulder.

"Sup girl. What's the haps" Liza said. "Oh nothing, just the average morning, the birds are chirping, the flowers in bloom, and a certain 15 year old girl is out for the blood of her best friend... nothing big." I gave a fake smile that i hoped spoke, 'You better run before i turn your insides into pudding with my sharp teeth.'

She gave a nervous laugh, " so you heard about the play..."

"no duh you idiot." I said through my teeth.

"Look Ra-vanilla, I'm really really really sorry for forcing you to try-" I cut her off mid sentence.

"Just shut up Liza." I said as I stomped away.
