The Necklace

Liza was at the main theater stage rehearsing for the play, and I just decided to go back to our dorm. It was nearing evening, so I thought I would just continue to read my library book.

I causally stalked to my door and put the key in the lock, and shortly the door opened.

Since it was about to rain, one of our windows shined dark blue light through the half closed blinds. To me it gave a cool and calm feel, but Liza constantly complains about the dark and how it’s scary. Well, I didn’t particularly love rain too, but too much light and sunshine is obsessive to me. Anyways, I put my key on a nearby table while I looked around our dorm. All I saw was two beds, a mini spot for the kitchen and two desks for our computers. But I rarely use those devices unless I need to. Otherwise, they’re just a burden if you ask me.

My eyes glazed around the area and everything was in place. Except one thing, and it was the small brown package from my father. I sighed to myself and walked to the box (or whatever you want it to be) in one corner of the room.

“I really don’t what any affection from him.” I whispered to myself and holding to package with both of my hands. “Doesn’t he know I’m fine without anyone’s help?” I paused to rethink about that thought. Then I started to pace in the middle of the room while talking to myself like a nut.

“I guess you have some minor problems Raven, but it’s nothing too hard I can handle. Besides everyone has their problems. But…not having at least a mom to hear you out is really difficult.” I stopped walking and looked up from the package, thought for a bit and looked back down. “No! I cannot think about that. If I don’t have a mother anymore then that’s the way it is for me. But why do I still feel lost?” I thought again and a then smile made its way on my face as I reminisced about this afternoon, and that boy. I must admit, when I finally sang, I mean really sang to someone like that it felt almost too good. Of course I felt vulnerable, but the boy caused all of that to melt away and replaced my heart with something else beautiful.

“Jeez! I need to at least know the dudes name to be thinking about him like this.” I looked more closing at the package, something in me even made me want to open it. So I just took a deep inhale and exhale and put my fingers where I could easily rip open the parcel.

“I can’t believe I’m actually doing this.” I then tore apart the tough wrapping paper in large strips. At one point I distinctively felt my body  go through some kind of rush. As if electricity was starting from the bottom of my feet, running through all of my veins and to my brain. I could hardly calm myself or stay still enough to finally reveal the item. But I did, I saw present and as soon as I did I felt myself getting dizzy and felt the room spinning. I soon realized it was actually me who was spinning but I couldn’t take my eyes off of the necklace that was the present, or whatever it was. I also saw a matching gold bracelet, I examined it a little and notice my name etched on it.

I touched the necklace and a bolt of electricity went through my body. “ouch.” I said letting go for a second. The necklace was pure gold, with something that looked like a miniature key. On the key was a purple diamond. Oh, it was fantastic. My whole body was aching to get to touch it. My dad had sent me gold before, but this, this was special. I had seen this before, somewhere. I don’t remember, but I had seen it. And the bracelet too. Yes, but it wasn’t my named carved so beautifully on the one I had saw, It was someone else’s. But whose? I grabbed the necklace, as if scared that it would, I don’t know, disappear. But as I did, the spinning increased, with more pressure, with more power. I didn’t care, I had to put it on, I just had to.

When I did, an unknown force ran through my skin, I could feel it. It was real. Now, the necklace. I wanted the necklace. I needed the necklace. It was as if the necklace was a missing part of me, and I wanted to get it back. When I held it tight, I seemed to be lifted off my feet. Wait, I was floating. Oh my gosh, I was floating. I kept going up, and when I put it on... There was an explosion.

I felt my body seem lighter and felt like my muscles were fluff. But when I didn’t feel the strange feeling in my feet I snapped my attention to my surroundings and sure enough, I was in midair. I didn’t even have enough time to scream, nonetheless think before everything just went dark.
