Setting: Market Street in London, 1816 during the Victorian time.

Chapter 1

It was a cold and dreary night. Instead of the sun shining, drizzle and rain fell upon the quiet streets of London. Everyone who lived near Market Street, was all in their cozy homes, resting by the fireplace drinking tea....except a young girl who was on her way home from the local bakery. Now this girl didn't grow up in what you would say, a ' normal ' family.  No, no this girl was far from the word. Her father owned a local toy shop near the old bridge. Her father's name, is Jacob Thomas. Now Jacob was a very unusual man. People from Market street could easily tell you that. They would use words like ' Oh my! That Jacob boy is trouble! No good that's what! ' and other words like ' Jacob old Jacob is the craziest loon in London! ' , so from this information, you can tell that Jacob is crazy. Well I wouldn't say crazy but unusual. Though to others Jacob was considered ' crazy ', only one person saw good in him. And that was Elizabeth Fredrick. She married Jacob and they both had a daughter. And just to give you a hint, this story is all about the daughter. Her name is Annabeth but people would call her Anna for short. Well enough explaining everything I will just get right back to the story. Annabeth could feel the cold, blazing wind across her face. She spotted her old-bricked house and quickly ran inside. Mrs.Thomas was in the kitchen busily making dinner while Mr.Thomas was sitting on the dinning chair reading the newspaper. Annabeth smiled. " Hello mother hello father! Just came back from the bakery and Mrs.Daphene was kind enough to give us a loaf of bread. Isn't that generous of her?" Anna's british voice echoed across the place.

" Hello Anna darling! Put the loaf on the table and I can add that for dinner." Mrs.Thomas smiled. Annabeth nodded and put the loaf of bread on the table. Mrs.Thomas finished making dinner and set everything up on the wooden table. Everyone sat down and started eating. Anna smiled at her family. " So father how is the shop doing?" Annabeth asked.

" Not as good as it use to be." her father replied sadly. Annabeth sighed. " Don't worry father. Its not that your shop is doing bad! You know that the economy is doing so swell right now! People are getting paid very little! Children at the age six are practically working because its that bad! Don't beat yourself up father!" She said trying to cheer him up.

" Oh but why try!" he went on, " Everything I do is such a waist! I try and so far things aren't working out the way I had hoped! Oh the Lord is punishing me I bet you! Damn!" he cursed. Anna and Mrs.Thomas gasped. " Jacob! Don't curse! Or swear! The lord has blessed us so far and we could be out living in the streets but here we are now Jacob. Fine as ever!" Mrs.Thomas said.

" Shes right father! The lord blesses everyone. We are not damned but blessed. The only place that is damned is Hell itself father!" Anna cried. Her father sighed. " I just wish the economy would change. Or at least do something for us to earn a little bit more money." he replied sadly.

" Oh father for heaven's sake life isn't perfect! If you need me I will be in bed! Goodnight." Anna left the dinner table and trotted up the stairs, into her bedroom. She got dressed in her blue night gown and tried to fall asleep on her bed......

5 hours later, The clock stroke twelve. Annabeth suddenly heard a large, crackling, thumping sound. She opened her eyes and sat up on her bed, listening to the sound. The noise kept growing louder and Annabeth could feel her heart race. She quickly got up and locked her door. She ran back to her bed and hid under the covers. The door slammed against the wall, open. The wind whirled around the small bedroom and smoke carressed the floor. A dark figure slowly walked in, his head searching along the patterned floor. Every step the figure made, a cold, frightning noise would emerge. Annabeth's breathing faltered. Her heart beated rapidly and for the most oddest reason, she could see her breath from her mouth. It was freezing cold, like outside during the winter time. The figure breathed in and out with his nostrils. Annabeth gulped and finally had the guts to ask, " Wh....what are you?.....and.....and why are you here?"

" Annabeth Marie Thomas. Come out so I may have a look at you." the deep, dark, and beautiful voice ordered. Annabeth slowly got up, pushing the bed covers away. Annabeth repeated, " Who are you?"

" My name is Alexander Lexington. I am the prince of the phantoms." he appeared. His face was as beautiful and perfect as a statue. His eyes were dark brown and sweet as honey. His black hair covering his lifeless face. He was a beautiful ghost. But something about him seemed cold and heartless. He grinned. " We must hurry Little Anna. We shan't lose another minute!" he announced.

" Where are we going?" Annabeth asked confused.

" To my castle of Death where we shall be married and you as my bride." he replied grimmly.

" I won't go!" Annabeth sat back down on her bed. His eyes grew darker. " Now Little Anna I am very impatient. Disobey me and I become a danger to you and your family." he said coldly.

" Don't you dare hurt my family!" Annabeth cried.

" Then come with me this instant."

" But I don't wanna go!"

" You have no choice Anna now come!"

" But--"

The room went darker and the air became colder. In a blink of an eye, Annabeth was swept off of her feet by the man. " W....wait.....if your a g....ghost.....then how......how can you be able to touch--"

" I can touch things if I want to touch them. It depends Little Anna." he said heading to the balcony, and jumping into the cold, windy air. He flew with Anna into the night air, soaring like a bird, going faster then lightning. Annabeth covered her face onto his chest, scared of flying. He chuckled. " Oh Little Anna I would never let you fall. Your safe in my arms."  It felt like seconds and they finally made it, to his castle of death.
