High Tide

Aquatic acquisition, which sought my heart,

was found in the arms of a captain’s death.

Surrounded by sea, alone but not lonely

I took my last breath, in which I found peace…

Distinctly, I recall the step, the plunge

into wetness’ caress, the end I was seeking,

followed by silence, darkness, and dreaming.

My destiny sealed, delivered, determined….

Weightlessly sinking into enlightenment,

with a heavy heart to pull me down,

to guide my body, sweetly subconscious,

into lost, lovely, abysmal freedom…

I could envision it, all I ever needed

would surely be found, located

at the distant bottom, the depths

of my reasons to drown, whispering…

More than just a cynic, I’ve become

swallowed by bitterness, eaten alive.

I have taken shape of the fearsome nightmare

that once tormented my thoughts at night…

Escape into the morning light,

if you can find the courage to

wake from this unending dream,

to live or die, just open your eyes.
