"We have 4 females, 3 males all in critical condition, car accident, we need all available medics now!" The doctor announced as loud as possible while bringing the first person off 7 from one of the multiple ambulances that had recently turned up outside. Handing the stretcher onto another couple of doctors he added "Female, roughly 17, blood pressure is 70 over 40 and dropping, assumed driver, internal bleeding she needs to get to surgery, now!"
Turning round, the doctor assessed the current situation of the car accident, two cars, 7 people and a whole lot of tragedy. You'd think someone who saw things like this on practically a daily basis at a hospital he'd get use to it, but he never did. Seeing tragedy and death on a daily basis was always heart wrenching, so much life potential all in one place, but it can all be gone in one moment.
As the gloomy night became a beautiful dawn, the situation at the hospital was less beautiful. Everyone was going through different things, some had been rushed in and out of surgery whereas others were undergoing situations that were going to remain unknown until they regained consciousness. Everyone in the hospital a player in the waiting game, one where there isn't always a winner.
Hours passed, and the overwhelming silence in the hospital began to pass. Family and friends of the people involved in the tragic car accident started to build up in the waiting room, all waiting for the same news that their loved ones were okay. However, there was one person in particular who wanted to know if his loved one was okay, he needed to know. Pacing around the waiting room, he would approach any doctor that left with the same questions, "Is she okay? Is Brenda okay? She was in the car accident, please tell me she's okay." And every doctor he would ask had the same answer "we don't know." Well some honestly didn't know as they had no clue who Brenda was, but for the doctors who work with her, they just told him that they can't tell as it's 'too early' or because 'she needs to become conscious for them to do more tests'. To the boy pacing the halls, this just made him want to pace more, he needs to know his best friend is well and he isn't getting the answers to find this out. Every bone in his body tells him to go in and investigate for himself, but he knows there's no use in getting kicked out. He would never find out that way, so he has to just wait about until they tell him something.
After what feels like forever, a doctor finally enters the waiting room and tells the boy the news he was waiting for, "You can go see her now." So that's what he did, he goes into her room and waits, waits until she wakes up and proved she was okay.
