🔱Kingdom of Dusanma🔱
The next morning when Sunni woke up, he arose with a fresh feeling of hope and enthusiasm. It was hope that today would be a better and more meaningful day. He rushed to the bathroom with a feeling that he should start the day earlier.
Luckily when he got there, no one had yet to occupy the bathroom. They only have two of them around the orphanage, and all little kids peed their pants when the toilets were being used by others. Poor things just don't know how to hold it in.
He soaps his body while humming a cheerful tune. Sunni felt that his day could not get any better. Though the feeling was out of the ordinary and very peculiar these days, he still hoped for good and happy things to come.
When he was done and dressed suitably for the day, Sunni grabbed his satchel. Before going out, he went to the children's room to give them a few kisses on the forehead.
Sunni walked out the door and made his way through the small lane that headed towards the town. He would try to ask for work at the same places that he had tried yesterday, just in case he got lucky. He hoped people would see his desperate begging and decide to help him.
The town of Crunim in the Kingdom of Dusanma is certainly a very famous place among the locals and travellers. The main market is filled with stalls with a variety of things to shop for. It was a very common thing to see different types of people in different attires.
It was also common to see strange things among the streets, as many outsiders often parked their ships and venture through the kingdom. Sunni made his way to a busy street as he looked from one stall to another. Trying his hardest to look for a job that fit his proper self.Hour after hour passed by but still, nothing. He just didn't get it. Why is it so hard to look for work in a place with such a full crowd? Is there something wrong with him? He knows he might be a little skinny and lean but that doesn't mean he can't lift heavy things. He's a very determined person that would do whatever it takes to finish something.
Just as Sunni started to whisper encouraging words to his heart, an old hunchback woman appeared in front of him and stared.
She was just passing by the market as usual like she had everyday. Seeing what there was to see, and hearing what there was to care about. She is one of a kind. The kind that knows everything even when things change, and people change. As she was walking through the crowd, a strong energy brought her to the young man. A flash of images flying through her mind as she stared at him. Just like when her mind wanted to see what there was to see.
Sunni stared back at the old lady in the same gesture, wondering who might this person be. The old lady suddenly raise her finger to Sunni's face and uttered:
"I see you ahead of time. In it, is the light that shines upon the kingdom and prosperity you will bring to this nation. Go to the castle and you will stumble upon a man with great nature,
the owner of your memories. Ask him for a chance."Sunni furrowed his eyebrows and smiles when he hears the old lady’s words that sounded very funny and strange. He looks behind himself, wondering if she was talking to the right person.
"Me?" Sunni asks the old lady.
"Go! Always help other people and I assure you that those children will have a better life. You will help them."
"How did you...?"
"I have lived long enough to see that the rage of war will bring nothing but destruction. Remember, when the time comes, heal the frozen heart that was tarnished by power and loneliness."
When the old lady finished, she walked away leaving a dumbfounded Sunni behind. Sunni couldn't say a word to the old lady. What was there to say? Everything that she has said made no sense whatsoever, maybe except for the job part. At this point, Sunni would try anything even if he had to believe a crazy old woman.
After a few moments, he gathered his thoughts and made his way to the castle with a strange rhythm in his heart. A rhythm that he could not recognize, but the unusual longing was there.
After a few hours, Sunni stopped as he arrived in front of the big and majestic castle that looked like it would swallow anyone who dared to walk in. Sunni gulps at the small lump in his throat as the castle feature brings in haunted thoughts. As he was about to walk in, the two guards in front of the gate cross their sword making Sunni jolt in surprise and stumble backwards.
"No common slaves are allowed in the castle." The right side guard said.
"But I am no slave. I'm one of the kingdom people."
"Can I see your letter then?"
"Letter!? What...letter?"
"The letter with permission to enter the castle.” Said the guards who were obviously annoyed with Sunni.
Sunni realized he did not possess such letter. He cast his eyes downward and turned around to walk away. But he was too busy looking at the ground in disappointment, he suddenly bumped into a hard wall. Sunni fell on top of the man as they both crashed to the ground. Sunni groaned in pain on top of the man's hard chest but quickly scrambled up when he realized what position had he got himself into.
"I'm terribly sorry I was not looking where I was going. Are you hurt?" Sunni apologize to the broad man.
Sunni stared at the gorgeous figure that stood in front of him. This man was strangely attractive even though he had yet to utter a word.
"It's fine." The man said.
Well, he seems more interesting now that he had spoken. Sunni thought to himself. Just as Sunni was about to walk away, the man stops him abruptly.
"Wait. Where were you going? Were about you entering the castle?" He asked.
"Yes. I wanted to enter the castle in search of a job but I don't have the letter." Sunni turns to the guards, mocking at their remarks before. "Were you going inside?" Sunni asks in embarrassment.
"Yes, as a matter of fact, I was." The man reach into his satchel and grab out a piece of paper. He flung it in front of his face, showing Sunni that, that is the letter.
The man walks over to both of the guards. They were talking for a while but Sunni still didn't walk away from where he stood. It feels strange that he felt the need to stay where he was. It felt stranger that he thinks he actually has a job now even though the man hadn't said anything about work.
When the man was done talking to the guards about a breakout that had happen in the castle last night, he walks back to Sunni.
"I'm Armand." He held out his hand
