She looked over to the boy sitting net to her, who had closed his eyes, listening to her voice.

"Do you know what I really really love? Your voice."  He stated staring into her eyes.  A lump gathered in her throat and her face grew warm with embarrassment.

"Really?"  She asked as calmly as she could.

The boy nodded and added, "I was having a really sucky day until I heard you sing."  The girl smiled shyly at her hands.  She only looked up when he stood up to leave.

"See you at the parade." She called after him.

"I won't be at the parade,"  He shouted back. "but I'll see you at Homecoming!"  The girl groaned inwardly.

"I'm not going."  She announced.  His brow furrowed in frustration.

"Why not?"  He questioned with a concerned and slightly annoyed tone.  The girl attempted to swallow the lump in her throat.

"The truth is I actually really wanted to go with you."  She hesitated, but there was no going back now.  The girl began to approach the boy, eyes faced downward.  "I think that you're amazing and I really like you.  Not just how you look, but everything about you.  The way you talk, your smile, your laugh, even your faults.  I just love it all.  I'm sorry if this is too straight forward, but I needed to tell you."  The girl slowly looked up at the boy's newly reddened face, and kissed him gently on the cheek or, at least, she wished she had.  Like she would ever have the confidence to say that to this boy who had captured her heart for so long.  No the girl just shrugged and responded as the boy looked at her with disappointed eyes, "I just don't want to."

"Well, I wish you were coming."  He said, just before he ducked into a car with his friends and drove off."

"Me too."  She whispered, hating herself more for loving this boy with every second that passed.
