Chapter 3: Excited Much?
"We're leaving, honey!" screamed mom from downstairs.
"I'll be right there!" I screamed back from my room.
I grabbed my Mickey Mouse backpack and ran downstairs.
Out of breath, I panted.
Mom smiled at me and held my hand as we walked out the door. I slightly turned my head around to get one last look of the house I had lived in for 7 years.
We both got into mom's royal blue Mercedes and rode to the new house.
"I wonder what my new house would look like..." I wondered.
"Excited?" my mom asked, amused.
I internally facepalmed myself. Oh shoot! I accidentally wondered out loud.
I laughed nervously. "Kinda," I muttered.
Mom looked at me and lifted up my chin. "You're going to love the new house."
"What makes you so sure?" I asked, doubting her.
She smirked. "There's a pool," she sang out.
I couldn't help but smile at that. But I didn't want mom to know I was, in fact, excited.
"So?" I asked all cool-like.
Her smirk grew bigger. "And... there's a water slide," she added.
I couldn't keep it in anymore.
I smiled real big. "Okay, fine. You caught me. I am, indeed, excited."
"Good," she grinned as she focused once again on the road.
Mom must've regretted telling me about the pool because after that, I kept bugging her about when we would get to the new house.
