Chapter 6: Meeting the Jacksons

Once mom and I finished unpacking everything, we collapsed on the couch.

"I'm so tired." I told mom.

"Me too." she replied.

She suddenly got up and grabbed a plate of cookies from the counter and said to me, "Here, go give these to our new neighbors."

Then she shoved me the plate of clearly not homemade cookies.

"But mommy, these are my Chips Ahoy! Why should I share them to a bunch of strangers?" I pouted.

I did have a point.

"Because sharing is caring." she stated.

"What if I don't care?" I groaned under my breath as I grabbed the plate from mom's hands. I looked out the window.

"Mommy, it's pouring rain out there!" I cried as I pointed out the window.

She handed me a blue umbrella and said, "Then bring this."

Before I knew it, I was shoved out the door holding a plate of cookies and an umbrella.

I ran to the neighbors house and knocked on the door.

A woman answered.

She looked at me and exclaimed, "Goodness gracious! Get in here!"

She pulled me into the house.

I looked around as she closed the door.

"Nice place!" I grinned.

"Thank you, dearie." she said with a smile. "I'm Mrs. Jackson. And who might you be?"

I smiled and answered, "I'm Jarrett Parker!"

She pointed to the soggy cookies I was holding and asked, "Are those for me?"

I nodded.

"How sweet!" she beamed as she pet my wet hair.

"Honey!" she yelled looking at the staircase. "Come down here, there's someone I want you to meet!"

Then, a cute little girl came running down the stairs. She had long brunette hair and crystal blue eyes.

Wait... Crystal blue eyes? That's Robin!

She was in pink jammies with little red hearts on it.

She gave me a toothy smile and screamed, "Hey, it's you!"

Mrs. Jackson looked confused. "You two know each other?" she asked.

"Yes, mommy!" exclaimed Robin. "We met when he was swimming in the pool!"

Mrs. Jackson shot her a disapproving look. "Were you spying again?"

She smiled nervously. "Y-yes...?" she stuttered.

I smiled. "It's okay, Mrs. Jackson! We're friends!"

She smiled. "Okay, then. I'm going to put these in the kitchen. I'll be right back."

Then, she left.

"I like the hearts on your jammies." I said, gesturing to her jammies.

"Thanks! You wanna go up to my room?" she offered.

"Sure, but I have to tell mommy first. I'll be right back!"

"Okay." she said, smiling.

I think this is a start of a beautiful friendship.

And let me tell you this, beautiful friendship doesn't even begin with what I found with Robin!
