"Mum, she's no where near anorexic, she just has a fast metabolism, don't you Dessy? And her Dad is lovely, you know that Mum" I rolled my eyes at him, though I loved it when he stuck up for me, especially as I was so often put down about my weight and size. An awkward silence swiftly arose, so I tried to start a conversation, "So Adam, how's your Dad" I confidently spoke

"That idiot is in the dog house, caught him making googly eyes at our neighbour, she's not even pretty, the bugger!" She said. I lowered my head, nothing I ever said was appropriate, and I always ended up accidentally offending somebody. Adam rubbed his large hand on my lower thigh and mouthed 'ignore her' reassuringly at me.

We had finally reached my house. I stared out of the blacked out window, wondering how to enter without my Dad screaming at me. Ethel gave a deep sigh and told me to hurry up. What was I going to say to him? I hated him supremely. I saw Adam in the corner of my eye, grasping his head with his hand, as if he was thinking. As I was plucking up the courage to go home, Adam suddenly said "Mum, can Destiny stay at ours tonight? It's a Saturday and she's had a bit of an argument with her Dad at the moment, and he needs a bit of time to cool off." Ethel dropped her head into her dry hands "Can't I have one night of peace? I don't even know why I ever had bloody kids, they're nothing but bother! But I guess she can stay, if she promises to not be drinking vodka and getting high!" I knew that she was joking, but my socially awkward mind decided to say "Don't worry, I save that for Sundays." The car remained completely silent. Why was I such an idiot? "Good one Dessy!" Adam forced a laugh. Oh my goodness I was so stupid.

Ethel parked the car up, Adam and I walked to his house. He had a small, compact front garden, with large chrysanthemums growing next to the wooden wicker fence, poppies at the side, and emerald green grass in the small square. His door was painted cherry red, with a golden letterbox with tiny carved flowers. Ethel forced the door open with her shoulder, and we all went in.

Adam pulled me up to his bedroom. It was the total opposite to the typical 'boyish' room. He was obsessed with nature and wild-life, and his walls were all covered in posters and diagrams of different plants and animals. He even had his own telescope that he got for his 16th birthday. "So, what do you want to do?" He queried

"I don't know, would you mind if I looked through your telescope? I promise I will be extra careful." Adam was very delicate with everything, and had probably never broken anything in his entire life, yet he always trusted me with everything. "Of course you can, just look through this bit and you'll be able to see all of the different star constellations, it's all so amazing, to think that we are all just tiny, insignificant specks of dust compared to the depths of the universe, don't you think?" He said enthusiastically. "Yeah it is" I peered through and all I could see was black. "I can't see anything"

"It's not in focus, silly" He pressed his body against my back and leaned forwards and hung his arms over my shoulders, gently adjusting the lense. I had never thought of Adam in a boyfriend-ish way, yet recently I had come to terms with my feelings, and realised that we were perfect for eachother.

As the view came into focus, all I could see was a sky full of diamonds. They were so beautiful and they shone so extravagantly that they made my head spin. I quickly turned to see Adam. His big hazel eyes were kindly glistening at me. He whispered quietly in my ear 'I want you' My heart started racing. He liked me?! I looked up at him. I carefully tilted my head to the left, and he kissed me. It was long and beautiful. His soft lips were warm and comforting, and it felt magical. "Do you kids want anything..." Ethel had stormed in, mid-kiss. We both turned away from each other and didn't look Ethel in the eye. "Adam! What the hell do you think you're doing! She's so vulnerable, just look at her, you're taking advantage you son of a bitch!" She yelled. Adam stepped forward and responded

"Mum, I'm 16 I can do what I want for goodness' sake! And I am not taking advantage of her, we both kissed each other!"

"I don't care what you were doing, I bet you were waiting till I left to do a whole lot more with her you sick pervert! Anyway, get out you slag, fancy you kissing my boy, just go home!" She screeched.

I instantly ran out of his room. I vaguely heard him call after me, but I kept walking until I got out onto the street. I sobbed as I sat on a small metal bench on the pavement. I went very hot and started shivering, despite it being 4 degrees. My heart dropped and I felt like I was going to die. Why did this have to keep happening to me? I took in a big deep breath, and tried to calm down. My feet suddenly got intense pins and needles and my hands went extremely numb. It took me a while to get back to normal, but when I did, I went straight home.
