DEATH NOTE: Kira's Successor

Chapter One

A/N: :P 'Li' is from Light's name and 'sa' is from Misa's name. 'Li-sa'.

Lisa's POV

I woke up after hearing my alarm clock, technically, it's my Dad's, I guess it was. He was a policeman and died while pursuing the said worst criminal ever.

He's so great. Everyone expects me to be like him... but I guess I can't.

I went downstairs to eat breakfast. I saw Grandma Sachiko watching the news and Aunt Sayu preparing for work. Someone rang the doorbell and knocked on the door.

"I'll get it." I said and opened the door.

"Lisa!" Uncle Matsuda, Aunt Sayu's fiancè, said, still surprised... whenever he sees me, his expression is this -> O_O I don't know why he's like this though. He never talked to me once.

It's as if he's ignoring me... no, I think, he's... terrified of me.

"Is Sayu here?" He asked. =_= This is where she lives, right? I nodded and let him in.

"Hi, Matsuda." Aunt Sayu greeted him. I sat down and ate breakfast while watching television.

"Earlier this morning, a body of an old woman was found in an apartment..."

I sighed. There's this... thing again, inside me that I can't understand. My Dad died while pursuing Kira. Kira was said to be the one who almost created a perfect world with no crime by killing criminals until he was stopped.

I hate Kira for killing my Dad and I'm greatful that he was punished for it but... I somehow wish that... Kira's here to punish criminals. The police hasn't done much recently.

"Lisa, you want anything later?" Aunt Sayu asked and I snapped back to reality. I shook my head no.

I went to the school library to return some books I borrowed for my homework and studying. The librarian, Mrs. Ayase, knows me, maybe because I often go there to return books and borrow new ones.

"My! Lisa, again?" Mrs. Ayase exclaimed. I just smiled at her.

"That's what happens when everyone expects you to be like your parents." I said.

"Oh, right. Light also studied in this school. He was the top student in the nation. Don't worry, I bet you're as great as him." Mrs. Ayase said. My smile got wider.

"Anyway, I'll be heading back to class." I said and I went to our classroom.

"The world is a..." Our teacher started to discuss. While listening, I took notes to review later on. I looked out the window when something caught my eye.

But... nothing. But I swore I saw a weird being in black. I sighed. Maybe it was just my imagination. I continued to take notes.

"Hey, Lisa. Want to go shopping?" My classmate, Rin, asked me but I said no. "I still need to study."

"Aww... come on, Lisa. Just this once?" She still insisted. To stop her, I said yes. I took the phone from my pocket and send a message to Grandma and Aunt Sayu that I'll be home late.

I took my bag and we headed out.

After we went shopping, we walked home. Our houses are in the same neighborhood that's why sometimes we walk home together from school.

"I can't believe you only bought a bracelet." Rin said. I giggled.

"At least I'm not the one who spent every money in her wallet buying dresses." I said. She rolled her eyes.

"I'm just going to buy something to drink from that convenience store. Stay here and don't ditch me, alright?" I told her.

"Aye-aye!" She said. I rolled my eyes. I walked to the store and went to their drinks aisle. Grapes or orange?

I like both flavors but I like Grapes even more while Rin likes Orange most. I'll just buy both so I can share the other one with her.

I went to the cashier to pay for the drinks then I walked out the store only to see Rin on the ground and is covered in blood.

"RIN!"

When I saw Rin, I quickly ran to her. I looked everywhere but I didn't saw anyone that might be the one who did that to Rin. Thank goodness, an ambulance that was heading back to the hospital saw us and brought Rin to the hospital.

I continued to cry. I wish I didn't leave her alone... then this wouldn't happened. What kind of friend am I?

I heard footsteps that seems to be running so I looked. It was Grandma Sachiko, Aunt Sayu, Uncle Matsuda and Rin's parents. I stood up from sitting.

"Are you okay?" Grandma Sachiko and Aunt Sayu asked me. I nodded then I wiped my tears.

"Did you contact the police yet?" Uncle Matsuda asked me. I nodded.

"They asked me if I saw the one who attacked her but... I didn't." I said.

"You sure you didn't see the one who attacked your friend?" He asked once more.

"Yes."

"You really sure?" He asked again.

"I TOLD YOU I DIDN'T!" I shouted then I ran to the heliport on top of the hospital. I screamed on the top of my lungs to release my anger.

I'm angry at myself for not being there for Rin. We've been friends since we were kids and we were there for each other but I wasn't there to protect her.

Third Person's POV

Unknown to Lisa that two unseen creatures have been watching her all the time.

"So, Light, will I kill the man now?" The shinigami, Ryuk, asked the spirit, Light.

"No, not yet. Once Lisa's friend regains consciousness and I told you, you can kill the man. Also, Matsuda's suspicious of Lisa. If the man dies now, my plan will be ruined." Light answered.

Ryuk snickered. "Even though he's already a spirit, he still desires his world." He thought.

A/N: At last, I have made this FanFic. I already planned this after I finished watching the whole Death Note Series which I think was on 2013 or on 2014. I was going to let Misa stick around but she's just too much! I kinda, just kinda, despise her. She is somewhat annoying at times.
