He Never Knew

There once was a girl. She wasn't exectly beautiful, but she wasn't ugly either. But she was extremely shy, at least when she didn't have her friends around. She was sweet, and kind. She cared about people, maybe a little too much. She could also be very funny when she had her good days.

Ever since she could remember, she always felt that a piece of her was missing, until she met HIM. He was all she ever wanted. He was smart, kind, caring and loving. He was the complete package.

Two weeks. It only took two weeks for her to fall hopelessly in love. She wanted him to feel the same way about her, but she was scared. Scared of rejection. Scared of losing him completely and not even being friends with him.

Every time she saw him, she would steal glances, hoping that he would look at her, for at least a second. But anytime he did, she quickly looked away. She didn't want to be caught staring.

Every time she saw him, she told herself that this time, this time she will talk to him. But every time she tried, it was as if somebody stole her voice, she couldn't get a single noise out of her.

And every single time, she would hope that he would start the conversation. But, that never happened. He never said a word to her.

All her friends knew about them. And all her friends kept on telling her to talk to him. And she tried so hard, but all her effort went to waste, she was a lost cause.

Until 5 months later, after stolen glances and an occasional smile, she got the courage to speak. She said a simple "hi" and he replied with a simple "hello". Just that one word made her head spin and heart beat even faster than normal. And the butterflies in her tummy turned to elephants. She looked into his eyes for a split of a second, then looked away, feeling her face getting hot. He smiled at her and left.

All week she couldn't stop thinking about what happened. And she already had a whole conversation plan thought out for when she will see him again.

But as the week passed and she was meant to see him again. But all the bravery, she had just a minute ago, disappeared. As if you blew out a candle, you blew out her bravery.

After all, she was just a silent observer. And she knew, that she could never have someone like him. Sure, he wasn't perfect and didn't exactly look like prince Charming, but to her he was the most handsome guy ever.

Even though her feelings for him were so strong, she never felt like this anybody else, she couldn't talk to him. What if he didn't like her? What if he would hate her afterwards? Her head was filled with WHAT IFs, and she wished so much for her head to be filled with OH WELLs, but that never happened, because of him.

And she never told him... He will never know just how much she loved him. He will never know that he was her one and only true love and that she never loved anybody after him. He will never know that every time he flirted with other girls it was as if he ripped her heart out and shot it a million times. He will never know about all those times she dreamt of them being together for eternity, living happily ever after. He will never know that he was her world.
