I get up very early the next morning and try my best to look professional. I want to make a good first impression at the Shape magazines office. My mother gets up at the same time as me and makes breakfast for both of us. "Excited?" she asks. I nod. "Not as excited as you, though" I say laughing at her euphoria.
"Good morning new colleague!" Perry practically shouts when she sees me walk inside the building. "This is Kayla Morgan, she is the head lawyer of Shape magazine" she introduces me to the lady next to her. She's around the same age as my mother and her hair is put up in a sleek ponytail. She's wearing glasses and dark red lipstick. "Nice to meet you, Lindsay. Come with me, I'll show you your office" she says. "I have my own office?" I ask surprised. "Of course you do. I don't think you would enjoy sharing one with me. I can get pretty furious sometimes" she laughs and we head to the lift. The building has more than sixty rooms for all the different sections. My office is on the same floor as Perrie's. It isn't too big but there's enough space for me. I drop my bag onto the table and sit down facing Kayla. She tells me about my job and responsibilities. "Basically what your job is; you have to go through all the pictures and get the rights for them by calling the photographer or the peoples managers. Afterwards you'll put the USB the pictures are on into this folder and your assistant will drop them off at the second floor where the articles are being written" she tells me. I remember that from university. "Assistant? What?" I suddenly ask. "Oh yeah, Grace said she hadn't told you yet. You have an assistant, her name is Jacky and she is sixteen, she will be here four days of the week to help you with everything. She told me she'd be here in a few minutes" Kayla babbles. "Oh, that's nice, but I really don't need an assistant. That's not necessary" I say because I feel uncomfortable. Kayla chuckles at my awkwardness. "It is, you will realize." And with that being said she leaves me waiting for Jacky in my office. I don't know what to do whilst waiting for her so I turn on the computer and setup a new E-Mail account for business. I hear a knock on my door. "Come in!" I shout and the door opens. A tall girl with dark red hair steps inside. "Hi, Ms Jenner. I'm Jacky, your assistant!" she introduces herself and places two cups of coffee on my table. "I don't know how you like your coffee so I got one without sugar and milk and one with sugar and milk" she babbles nervously. "Thanks, Jacky. Please call me Lindsay instead of Ms Jenner, that makes me feel so old and I really am not" I quote my mother. "Oh, alright. Can I sit down?" she asks. "Of course" I answer laughing. She is awkward, in a cute way. She tells me what days of the week she will be at the office and that she is a high school student and this is her first real job. She seems very nice. After an hour of talking she rushes to Kayla's office and comes back with a USB stick. "Kayla wants you to go through these pictures" she says and I nod. "Is that your boyfriend?" she asks pointing at the new screensaver I adjusted. It's a picture I took of Harry when we were in Amsterdam. I nod. "Hottie!" Jacky chirps and laughs. She then leaves me alone with the work.
Two hours later when I am halfway through and too exhausted to look at the computer display I decide to take a break. I dial the number Jacky has left on my table and she answers immediately. "Hey Jacky, where are you?" I ask her. "At the stationary, getting stuff for your office" she answers. "Oh, okay. Wanna grab lunch with me?" I offer. "Yeah, let's meet at that Italian restaurant on Dwarn Road" she suggests. "Alright, meet you there in a bit" I say and hang up the phone. I slip into my coat and wrap my wine red scarf around my neck before leaving the office. I think about inviting Perrie but I can't find her anywhere so I just head for the restaurant.
After sharing a pizza with Jacky and talking about my week schedule we walk back to the office. I finish my work and hand the stick to Jacky who drops it off at Kayla's office. "You can go now, if you want to. See you tomorrow?" I say and she nods. "See ya!" she shouts before leaving. I pack my bag and take a look at the clock. I have thirty minutes left until I can leave but I'm already done with everything so I decide to take a look at the things Jacky got me for the office. I place the hafts, pens, highlighters and everything else she bought on the desk and almost throw the paper bag away when I spot a picture frame on the bottom of the bag. There is a little post it attached to it. 'Place picture of you and your boy here :)' is written on it. I chuckle and place the frame on my desk next to the computer. I then pull out my phone out of my pocket to thank Jacky.
'How is it going?? x' - Harry
'Meet up at my place, important!!' - Lucy
I first answer Harrys text saying that I am having a great day and ask him how he is doing before telling Lucy that I will be there in a few minutes. I then stop by at Kayla's office and tell her that I am done for the day. "Alright, have a nice evening. See you tomorrow" she says and I smile. "Oh and Lindsay?" she adds. I look at her. "Good job." I thank her and text Perrie asking where she is. We meet up in front of the building. "Did you get that text from Lucy?" she asks me. I nod. "Let's go there together, are you here with your car?" I ask. "No, Zayn dropped me off." "Alright, I'll take you. Let's go" I say and we walk to my car. "So how did it go?" she asks smiling. "Great! I love it here, I can't thank you enough" I babble. I am so relieved and happy. "You'll be even happier after getting your pay check at the end of the month" Perrie jokes as we get inside the car. "So what do you think this Meetup is about?" I ask her. "The baby, I guess." "Mhm."
