"Bye." Madelyn says, slamming Joce's passenger door shut.
"Alright. Andy's house next." Jocelyn states, pulling out of Madelyn's driveway.
Mads's house is depressing, as it's so small, and gets smaller as we drive away from it.
"So, tell me again. You did what?" Andy asks.
"Andy, we've already been over this. She shoved me, so I shoved her." Joce says she she turns onto the next road.
"Well, yeah, but you shoved the Hannah Strom."
"So? Mia showed her the middle finger." I pitch in.
"But it's Hannah Strom we're talking about. The most, well, one of the most, popular girls in the school." Andy leans back in his seat. "That's just amazing."
I look over at him and laugh. He stares back at me. "What?"
I shake my head. "Nothing."
A comfortable silence passes over the while car.
A few minutes later, Andy gets out of the car, and me and Jocelyn drive off again.
"Which house today Elle?"
I groan. "Unfortunately, my dad's house."
Joce grimaces. "Sorry Elle."
"Don't be. It's not your fault he's a terrible father."
"You could come over to my place, if you want."
"It's alright Joce. I've got lots of homework, and maybe I'll try to bond with him? I dunno."
"Well, alright. If gets to be too much, just call me, and I'll pick you up."
"Definitely."
Jocelyn pulls up into my dad's driveway. I wrinkle my nose in disgust. The place is a tiny shack with brown bricks and a brown roof.
"Bye Jocelyn." I say, shoving open the door.
She looks back at me from the driver's seat. "Call me if you need anything!" I nod as I close the door.
I walk up the rocky and uneven driveway, and wave to Joce as she pulls out.
I ring the doorbell. The door opens, and shows my dad.
He has dark orange hair with green eyes and small pot belly. He's wearing a red plad shirt and blue jeans.
"Hey dad."
"Oh, it's you." He heaves in a breath. "Hey Ellie."
I step into the house. "I won't be staying long. I'm going to Will's house."
"Who's Will again?"
I stare at him. "My boyfriend." I start packing up food from the pantry.
"Oh. Good, because I've got a girl coming over again tonight."
I laugh without humor. "How much did you pay her this time?"
"I didn't pay her."
"Sure." I go to my 'room', and grab pajamas. Then go back to the kitchen.
I sling my book bag over my shoulder, grab my ipod and headphones, and start to leave.
"Ellie, could you do me a favor?"
I turn to look at him, the front door halfway open. "What?"
"Could you tell your mom something?"
