- 32 Weeks Pregnant -

"Did you get them?" I mumbled and watched as Justin pulled three plastic cups of Jello out of his pocket. I grinned, "Gimme."

He laughed and tossed them, one at a time, onto my lap, "I can't keep stealing these for you."

"Yes you can," I mumble back, "I'm on bed rest with your child. You can steal me jello cups."

He laughed and sat down in the chair beside my bed, "Why don't I just buy you jello cups?"

I rolled my eyes and grabbed a spoon off the side table, "If you buy them then there's no thrill."

"You don't get a thrill. I do. I don't like it."

I shook my head at him, "You're not a very good team player. I'm glued to this bed and you won't even steal jello for me?"

"I have been stealing jello for a week."

"I've been in bed for a week."

He rolled his eyes, "I can see why your mom and Krystal said they didn't want to be here."

"That's rude." I mumbled and spooned Jello into my mouth and frowned, "This is Lime."

Justin stared at me for a second before he slowly got up and grabbed the cup from me, "Last time." He snapped then left the room.

"I love you," I mumbled after him. I glanced down at my massive belly and sighed. Taylor had been moving less and less avery day. Meghan assured me she was still healthy and happy, but I still worried.

And suddenly, I felt it.

I pressed my hand on my side and scrunched up my face.

Ow.

What the hell is this?

I looked up and watched as a few nurses gathered in the hall and laughed at something. Should I call them in?

And before I had a chance to do anything, it was gone.

And Justin was walking back into the room, "Grape." He mumbled and placed it beside me on the bed. I stared at him as he sat down, "A picture would last longer."

"All I have to do is open a magazine to see your face."

He sat up straight, "Was that a compliment?"

"No," I pulled the seal off the new jello cup and sniffed it.

"Im taking it as one."

I shrugged, "Whatever." Then I ate my jello.

They hadn't gone away. I was getting them every ten minutes or so, but not as bad as the first one had been. The rest were all easy to pretend they weren't happening.

But Meghan looked at a few monitors and then glared at me, "Serrina." She spoke like she was a teacher punishing her student for stealing another kid's lunch, "Why didn't you say anything?"

Immediately all eyes in the room turned to me. Justin, Krystal, my Mom.

"I didn't think it was serious." I mumbled and she shook her head. Then as smoothly as possible, she pressed a button on a machine and a piece of paper started printing out of it. She was watching it while biting her cheek.

"You've been having contractions all day," She sighed, "How did you not think it was serious?"

"Because they didn't feel like anything. Am I in trouble?"

She crossed her arms and let out a long sigh, "You are having contractions. We had planned to do a cesarian. You going into labour would be a terrible thing, so yeah, you're in trouble."

I could feel my mom and Krystal glaring at me while Justin just stood in confusion.

"Wait, she's in labour?" He mumbled, "I thought women screamed in pain during labour."

She shook her head, "She's not there just yet. I need to check how dilated you are." She was trying to brush off any questions. She needed to know what was happening first, "I'll be back."Then she left the room.

I glanced up at the remaining people and saw a mix of worry, anger and confusion. None of them spoke and Meghan was back quickly.

"Okay," She sighed sliding her stool to the end of my bed, "Not going to lie, this can hurt. Don't resist or you can make it a lot harder. I need you to put your feet together and then drop your knees. So, make a diamond with your legs."

I nodded and followed her instructions. Without warning she lifted my blanket and moved her arm under it.

"Im starting."

She was right. It hurt. She used one hand to press on the top of my belly while the other practically dug for gold up my hoo-haa. I had to breathe deep to stop myself from screaming.

I definitely preferred when Justin was the one doing this.

Then it stopped and she pulled off her gloves, "You're about 4 centimetres dilated."

"4?" I gasped, "That's almost halfway."

"Correct. And since the baby is already on her way through your cervix, we will have to do our best to do this naturally."

I felt my heart start to race, "But the risks?"

She shrugged, "We will have an OR prepped if we need it." Then she looked around the room and sighed, "Come on people!" She was quickly smiling, "We're gonna have a baby."

******

Meghan had been clear.

No pushing until absolutely necessary. We didn't want any more risks than we already had.

Which meant I had to use every method in the books to dilate my vagina - sorry, cervix - enough to push Taylor out.

Justin was rubbing my back as I bounced on the yoga ball. My contractions had gotten stronger, but were still bearable.

"Another one," I mumbled and started rolling back and forth. He kissed my back and continued to rub circles.

"Are they getting stronger yet?" He mumbled into my skin.

"Nope," I sighed.

Oh, one nice thing about having Taylor now, I was off bed rest. I was allowed to move around and that was almost as much of a win as having my baby.

He touched my waist and turned me around, "Be honest with me. I want to help."

"I am being honest," I mumbled and placed my hands over his, "They're okay."

He smiled and bent forward to kiss my forehead, "Are you ready to be a mom?"

"Are you ready to be a dad?" He laughed, "I don't think I ever will."

I smiled back at him.

Then my body cramped. My back seized up, my legs couldn't move and my entire stomach clenched.

"Ow," I managed to choke out before tears came up in my eyes. Then I screamed.

Contractions: No longer bearable.
